I always appreciate your posts and plays boxlocks.

What are your thoughts on Rahman this weekend? I saw that you were on Maskaev for +280 something, but you said that was for value. Do you think he's a good bet now, or do you believe Rahman will win?

Maskaev beat him by KO in 1999, and I consider Rahman just a barely above average fighter, but he hasn't lost since '03 (even though he really lost to Toney). Overall, Rahman's performance against good competition hasn't been that good.

Maskaev hasn't lost since '03 either, but his competition hasn't been very good and he hasn't fought in about 8 months. He's pretty much a knockout machine though.

Rahman has a slight reach advantage, but I can't find a good position here either way.

Any thoughts on the fight tonight?

Maskaev is long in the tooth now, go with a slightly younger and has more to lose Rahman. Maskaev knows this is the end of the road so this fight is his swan song.

I'm going with a small unit on Maskaev to win (+200) and a small unit on Maskaev to win by decision (+750).

I think Maskaev can pull this one off. From what I've read, he's been working on his footwork and trying to be a better technical boxer. The training videos I saw of Rahman looked pretty sad, and I haven't been impressed with Rahman at all in his last couple of fights. I could see Maskaev out-boxing him here and winning a decision, and the value IMO is great.

GL on your plays!

I believe he thinks Rahman will win the fight tonight. He got Maskaev early (at a good value) with the intention to hedge, but he also has Rahman to win.

dec maskaev now plus 835. thats a great value bet. Maskaev has changed his style significantly he was really boxing well against sam for 12 rounds.
with rahman you never now against ruiz he showed a pityful performance walking around like a zombie. the +250 for the distance is also very high.
dont fall for the marketing ko revenge bla bla.

Sorry for the delay...

Rahman-Maskaev

Rahman weighed in at 235 which is perfect for him and I know he trained hard for this one. Maskaev at 238 is a little heavier than his last few but he's still in top shape.

When these guys fought 7 years ago, Rahman was up 70-63/68-65/68-65 before he got overconfident and caught in the 8th round. Rahman is a Top Rank fighter who is hosting this fight in LV where Arum has plenty of pull. Given the scores of the first fight and the influence here, I think Rahman wins if it goes to the cards.

So the fight comes down to who has the better chin, both guys have power so it all depends on who can take others shot better. I'm almost positive that Rahman's chin will hold up this time, and Maskaev with his glass jaw is in serious trouble.

Just look at what has happened since these guys last fought. Rahman has gone the distance with Toney, Ruiz, and Tua. He took plenty of good shots from C. Sanders and L. Lewis before knocking them both out. The only time Rahman has been stopped since Oleg was by Lewis who was on a mission that night, no one could take those right hands.

Now lets look at Maskaev's chin, I recall reading an interview where Oleg said he was getting hurt by Rahman's punches prior to stopping him. Sounds like he knew he was about to be stopped so he went for the KO and got lucky. Just look at Oleg's losses since the Rahman fight, stopped by K. Johnson in the 4th round, stopped by Goofi Whitaker in the 2nd round, stopped by C. Sanders in the 8th round, the other C. Sanders who's fat and horrible. I didn't see the fights, but I read that Oleg was even hurt a few times by Sam and Defiagon in his last few outings. I think he's in big trouble tonight.

I played and posted Maskaev +298 and +250, also have Maskaev +16.5 points +137. All of which was based on value with full intensions of hedging or scalping later. If Rahman weighed in at 250, I'd be letting it ride, at 235 I know what to expect. With Rahman still -225 at Bet365 the time is now...

Am I the only one that thinks the over 9.5 at +158 is stealing money?

Nope

I've seen several solid boxing guys on the Over at decent + money

The great Tony M. thinks the distance prop is too high. I have personal plays on Mask by dec +700 and Rahman by dec +650 giving me better odds and eliminating the tech decision from possible ways to lose. I played those very early, Rahman decision is down to +450 but you can still get Mask by decision at +750

Keep in mind these are smalls plays based on value, considering who Maskaev has been stopped by and hurt by, it wouldn't surprise me if he got caught early

I'm just worried about a late KO, and instead think the O9.5 at +$ is just silly.
