I'm not exactly going out on a limb here but the Red Sox are finished. After they blow this game in Kansas City tonight, they'll be four games back in the loss column. The division race is over and I don't think the Red Sox will even make the playoffs. They did nothing to improve themselves before the trading deadline while the Yankees picked up three players that are already helping them. The Red Sox are playing without Jason Varitek and Trot Nixon. They really miss those two players.

The pitching stinks. Their defense isn't very good and they're a slow team. The Yankees are clearly better and they don't even have Sheffield or Matsui in the linup. The Yankees will win this division by ten games or more.

The Sox are done. They are playing for next year. They were not willing to deal anyone in the farm. And Theo made this highly apparent.

The Clemens deal fell through and that was that.

They will be a powerhouse in years to come though.

Guys, they are in a small slump. Happens every year. Better now, than in September. Like always, it will be a close finish in the east.

Yes, you are probably right.

But if you are a Sox fan like me, it's the end of the world after every loss and every slump.

They are hardly done, but they are in trouble...no doubt.

I don't like the lineup nowhere near as much as the past few years....when this team struggles to hit they really struggle, they don't have the same luxury of players top to bottom they had in recent years.

I highly disagree, I follow the Yanks pretty closely, and they are extremely overrated. They have been playing poor competition lately. Near collapse tonight after what should have been an easy victory. Boston is in a slump, but I can't wait to jump all over Boston to win AL East tomorrow. I think it will be around +350 at least, great value. Bos-NYY 5 games in 4 days in Boston still coming up.

Great day to be a Royalfan. Bright future. Great postion players coming through the system. 2nd to none. If they can only find some pitching.

when watching the twins play the royals i was surprised they said they were 22-22 their last 44 games. Considering their overall record this came as a surprise.

Yes, so far under the radar it would be surprising to be sure. At least there is some reason to believe now that they have a GM that knows what in the hell he is doing. They don't have a very good team for the rest of this year, but the culture of the franchise is rapidly changing.

Toronto and ChW are not exactly playing their best ball of the year right now, both have pretty much been in a free fall since the all star break. Baltimore sucks as usual. I didn't claim Boston was playing top notch teams either, just that they are going through a rough spot, while the Yanks are winning against subpar teams.

There are just way too many games left, including the ones head to head, to say this over. That is why I say, depending on the price, there could be a lot of value in betting Boston to win the division.

Yankees are in a very tough schedule in the coming month. Other than a series with Baltimore they have todays game with White Sox, Angels, Boston, Seattle, Angels, Detroit and then Twins. Let's see where they sit on Sept 4 before We call this race over.
