What an awesome matchup

From MLB.com:
Scouting Report:
Verlander will be pitching on 10 days of rest after being skipped from the rotation over the weekend against the Indians. The move was meant to keep his workload down heading into the season's homestretch and rest a somewhat tired arm, but it has the added benefit of gearing him up for the team that handed him his last loss. He gave up four runs over six innings June 7 in Chicago, taking a 4-3 defeat opposite Contreras.

Contreras had only allowed one hit in his first three innings against Toronto in his last start, but then the bottom dropped out. He gave up four runs in the fourth, and ended up charged with six runs in 6 2/3 innings to earn his fourth loss in his last five starts. It was the third time he had allowed at least six earned runs in a start this season -- comparatively, he allowed just six runs total in his first five starts of the year. Contreras had a 1.83 ERA at the end of May, but has posted a 5.08 ERA since. He is 7-3 with a 2.16 ERA in 14 career starts against Detroit, including a 2-1 record this season.

I'm going to continue to ride the Verlander train tonight. At a slight dog price, no less:103631605
