Do you think this bet has a decent chance of winning? The reason
I say this is I have $500 worth of wagers on this bet.

Current Record 60-61 == 41 games left will need to win
18 out of 41 for bet to win= .439

I haven't been following baseball as much as some of you and
I don't have the baseball futures experience as some of you,
so with that being said what are the chances this bet wins
would you say? Lets say you had this bet as well would you
be happy or upset? I would really like to have this $$ for football
season to help pad my bankroll..

Any thoughts for your friend gyno??

Well, I have them at over 75.5 and I don't feel comfortable at all. 3 game series against decrepit Giants team at home should be more fruitful than that. Lot of road games left like you said.

Let's examine this further.

They are playing at a .496 clip right now. So if they need to play at a .439 percentage the rest of the way, the statistics say there is nothing to worry about. They added Todd Walker, so that should help.

Looking at their schedule, they have 24 of those games against teams at about .500 or less (Arizona, Colorado, and Pittsburgh).

18 home games vs. 23 road games BUT, they Padres play a lot better on the road. .552 on the road vs. .444 at home.

Nothing is certain, but I wouldn't stress over it. Appears to me to be an easy winner.

Pitching and clutch hitting is the most important factor in the playoffs. Le't's compare their starting pitching to the other contenders.

The Yanks top 4 starters are Mussina, Wang, Johnson and Lidle.

Detroit: Bonderman, Rogers, Robertson, and Verlander. I consider Verlander a question mark because he has a tired arm.

White Sox (likely Wild Card winner). Contreras, Buehrle, Garcia and Garland

Oakland Athletics: Haren, Zito, Blanton and Harden (?)

Angels : Lackey, Santana, Escobar

All teams have good bullpens. Oakland and Angels appear to be short with the hitting. Sox short with pitching. I believe the White Sox starters have struggled this year due to all the compete games they threw in the playoffs last year. I believe the Tigers lineup will struggle in the playoffs. The Yankees have the best lineup top to bottom IMO.

Johnson will be the key to the playoffs. If he pitches well, they probably win the World Series.

I am by no means a baseball expert, but I really doubt the Angels
make the playoffs. Oakland is a solid team. I think Oakland is
the best TEAM in baseball. Not the most talented or the team to
beat, but they are a team...

I agree with pretty much everything IS said, personally I would not be too worried. I'd say you have a 75% chance at cashing this.

Where did you get Giants at over 79.5 or , more importantly, when did you get them. I took Giants under the 83.5 at The greek about mid-March. Woould have loved to have gone after a huge middle like that!
