The wife asked me this question tonight and to tell you the truth I didn't have an answer. When I was younger I used to gamble to try to win some money, but now I have enough where I don't have to worry about money. Is it really worth it??

There could be enough of everything, but there's no such thing as "enough money".

All the mankind's problem, burden, chaos and etc. are started mainly with something called "money".

Its in the blood look at Michael Jordan, John Daly and Janet Gretzky its not so much the money but the thrill of the action to them.

I would love to say I have enough money...like others said though if you still can somehow enjoy it ( I'm not sure I could if money wasn't an issue) then I would still do it.

do u enjoy it

30+ years of it. I guess I don't enjoy it like I used to. It just seems like I have to gamble when football starts, almost like a habit. I do enjoy posting plays and it makes me feel good if I can win some money for the guys here on the Rx. I shut it down for the most part all summer and I really don't miss it.

I gamble to make money. If you have enough money you'll ever need then there is no reason to gamble. If it is the challange as some say, then you could do that challange betting 5 bucks a game and still post picks.

As someone stated Jordan, Barkley, Michelson, Daly, etc. gamble even though they have all the money they will ever need. They are degenerates and they will lose every year.

Find something else to do and you will probably be a lot happier.

My wagers have continued to grow through the years and there is no way I could get interested for five dollars a game any longer, but you make great points. Maybe it is the high of the action that gets me off.

Harrington:

Whether you realize it or not, you are actually addicted to gambling and that is why you do it. I don't need the money either as I am retired and live comfortably, but enjoy the challenge of handicapping and miss it when I'm not involved in some manner. As long as it isn't out of control, the addiction too the high of sports wagering presents little or no harm.

What do you normally wager per game harrington? I know it seems straight forward but I always wondered when the big guys bet how much is big or normal to them and how they are able to wager so much money. U gotta make alot I take it. Meaning are you always playing with the same amount just going back and forth or do you start with a bankroll (large) each year and play it.

LOL,

i wonder if bill gates ever asked himself that question with microsoft? :money8:

you no harrington only started the topic to try and brag, i guess saying "hey guys i am a rich mofo" would have been too direct.

instead he comes up with "hey guys i am warren buffet but i still love to gamble"

Yes, Bill did, and when he did, he stepped down.

Does anyone think Microsoft would be worth 1/4-1/3 of its top valuation if Bill was still hands on.

Even civilized men still have a bit of the caveman in him. It is in a male's instinct to risk. Since the dawn of time men went out to hunt the buffalo or start a business in order to make a living for himself and his family.

Since you no longer have financial risk harrington, gambling provides that risk for you. You risk losing something every time you bet and you stand to gain something. Men get their self-worth in the acts they accomplish. When you win at gambling you have accomplished something.

i can't believe people are actually giving this guy advice/reasons

he wants you all to know he is a rich mofo, that is it.

you really think a guy who says he is financially sound for life, really is looking for advice for why he gambles?:missingte

There are a lot of people who have all the money they will ever "need". The question is do you have all the money you would ever "want"?
