I went to deposit $240 into my FirePay account but accidentally deposited $2400. The money didn't go through because I didn't have the money in my bank account. When it first happen I tried to call them and tell them about the mistake but there was no way to contact them. About a month later I get a call from FirePay telling me I owe them $2400. The guy is telling me its check fraud and they are going to report me. The guy threatens me and tells me hes going to suspend all my bank accounts and I will never be able to write a check again. I understand that mistake so I said I would pay, I don't have $2.4k now I told him I would have to get the money by selling a stock so at first he said I'll give you till the 31st. Than half way through the conversation he changes his mind and tells me I want the money today. He said it was his obligation to report me. Even though I didn't plan on paying him today I asked him to see what he would say. I asked him if I pay him the money today would he still send in a report and he said he wouldn't. The entire conversation he was harassing me by shouting at me and telling me I have no money and that I will never be able to write another check again. I told him my father was a lawyer and he said he can't be a very good lawyer if he can't give you $2400. The guy I spoke to was totally unprofessional. I asked him to send me a physical letter and he wouldn't do it. I also asked him for an address and asked him where he was located and he wouldn't give me the information. He said he was in a call center and didn’t have to give out that information He sounded like a young kid when I was screaming at him when he told me about closing all my bank accounts this guy tells me my screaming is hurting his ears. I asked to speak to his boss but he told me he was the chief executive and no one is higher than him. While talking to him he tells me hold on I am on the phone with the attorney. This guy tried to intimidate me to get the money he said whatever bullshit he could to get me to pay. I agree I would pay but I didn’t have the money today so he was blackmailing me by telling me if I don’t pay he is going to report me to the National Checking Agency. Does anything this guy is saying seem true? This company is in who knows where how can he report me to the National Checking Agency or some Agency he said if he isn’t in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1:place>USA</st1:place></st1:country-region>? When I he left a message last time he said he was going to report me to the Attorney General’s office but that doesn’t make sense to me because their companies isn’t even in the US. This guy HUNG UP on me while I was in the middle of asking him an address or location. This guy also kept telling me this conversation was taped when I never agreed to that. Companies are required to tell you that conversation is being recorded. They guy wouldn’t even let me work out a way to pay him. He just kept saying the only way I don’t ruin your credit is by paying today. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

guy is sitting in a cubicle reading off a sheet of paper as to what to say. yes they can try to mess up your credit and could succeed at first, but you could get it fixed in a short time if he decides to do that.
the guy is a scumbag just trying to COLLECT.
he knows nothing about your file and will continue to badger you if you so let him. tell him where to stick it or just don't talk to him and speak with someone else.

Couple of questions:

1. If they owed you 2400, would you have found a way to contact them?
2. "About a month later"????? You kept their 2k for a month? And you didnt expect anything bad to come from it?

I get a kick out of some people blatant lack of responsibility. This one it top notch.

Question:

3. When you immediately realized that you had accidentally put in 2160 too much, Im sure you just left the money in your firepay account right? I mean, Im sure you didnt actually transfer that money to a sportsbook to use because you immediately knew you had done too much and it wouldnt clear your bank.

4. I guess the "contact us" button on their webpage was too confusing. It is big and says "CONTACT". This might be one of the ways to contact firepay, but Im not sure.

5. A simple google search of "firepay phone number" got me this: 877-firepay or 514-380-2777 or info@firepay.com .

If there was only a way to contact them.....

Why do you owe Firepay anything? When $2400 appeared in your Firepay account you realized your mistake and just let the amount sit in your account since you were unable to contact them, right?

$2400 is credited to your Firepay account, the EFT did not clear, $2400 is deducted from your Firepay account and the only thing you owe is an NSF check fee at the bank, right?

Sounds like a collection agency calling you. They will say anything to get you to pay. Yes they can mess up your credit rating. Yes you can live without a good credit rating.

He obviously failed to mention that he did not do what you listed above.

It is too logical.

First of all nice try. Too bad you didn't win your wager and now you have to pay. You tried to gamble with funds you didn't have. Funny how it was a mistake but you still spent the money. Anyways it amazes me once again a stupid fool coming on here acting all innocent like we all were born yesterday.

Second the answer to your question. Firepay will not do anything to you but threaten you. Telechex is the main check processor in the US and firepay does not report to them. Second of all ACH transaction are not considered check fruad as it would be if you wrote a check. The law hasn't caught up with the technology yet. Also firepay will just send it to collections and they will threaten you. As for it going on your credit report i would doubt it as most of these companies conduct business overseas and can not get anything put on your credit report. If it shows up there then I would dispute it with the credit report agencies and if that fails worry about paying it for a deletion as any of these collection agencies would delete it for payment. As for the negative internet database and etc. They don't exist. Word of advice. they probally will notify the sportsbook in question and needless to say don't be stupid and play there again. Also there is a concern that the collection agency would try to sue but usually internet transactions can be very hard to prove so most just let it go and hope threatning will work.

I went through a similiar situation awhile back with Firepay and my bank decided to stop allowing firepay transanctions from posting because they figured out it was related to gambling. Anyways the scumbags from firepay called me and did the same shit and I told the guy if he wanted his money to stop harrasing me and send me an invoice and i will send them a payment. The guy refused so i told him to fuck himself and he would never see the money. Anyways never heard from the scumbags again and every few months i get a letter from a collection agency and credit report is clean. This was 2 years ago and for more money. The way i see it is fuck those bastards. I would have payed them honestly but the scumbag wanted to harrass me.

Greed

Sounds like he seen his balance deposited and hope to score on a game and put it back but..... God I hate the But. Seen this before. Why are most gamblers so greedy? I seen so many people do this and have come to the conclusion that most lose more than they can afford and then try to chase using others money to get caught up. There was a guy here in town that would double charge his customers credit cards and thenbet the extra amount on the game hoping he would win and get the extra money and then refund the credit card. Needless to say he is living rent free for a while in the federal housing project.
Point is you spent(stole) money that wasnt yours and they want it back. So give it back or pay for your actions.

Thats not exactly what happen I left the $2160 in my account after depositing the $240 to bet on a game and lost. Than my younger son found the password and lost the money playing poker. I didn't find out about this because the account I used for firepay I hardly use. I was willing to pay but this guy kept harassing me. I didn't have the money at the time and told him I would pay by selling a stock and he hung up on me. I did try calling back but no one anwsered. I am willing to pay Im not stealing any money. I asked for an address and a physical bill and the guy hangs up.

kick him out of the house and teach him a lesson for stealing

if i had a kid and did not have 2400 laying around, i'd be quite concerned. if your kid needs an operation in an emergency situation and you have no coin, you are fukked

don't "bet-it-all" on your son's education

Gambling is based on greed. If gamblers realized that moderation is better than greed, their lives would be 100% happier. I hope this guy has learned a lesson. Same type of guy who would expect a credit book to pay out, but he would stiff the credit book in a heartbeat. The gaming business has no need for people of this nature. These clowns ruin the integrity of a fun. legit, and entertaining business.
