Ok guys...have a quick question about betting with a PDA and which service is better...you opinions are appreciated......i wanted to bet with the PDA's on pinnacle, olympic, here are my options..i would like to stick with just these 2 companies if possible

Tmobile Sidekick 3 Phone Cost 299.99
plans are 600 anytime minutes 39.95 mth
1000 anytime minutes 59.95 mth

Pros
unmlimted data plan for 19.95 mth (internet, email, messaging)
nights and weekend do not start until 7pm
cool looking phone with some neat features

Cons
not alot of minutes for the price
coverage is not the best in ny

Sprint PPC 6700 450.00
Treo 700 499.99

I use the Blackberry 8700g from t-mobile in NY and love it. It's the same price as the Sidekick and is considered the best for data (e-mail at least). You will definitely want the unlimited data plan t-mobile offers. I even used it in Eurpoe and unlimited int'l data is only 19.99 per month extra.

I have no problem placing wagers with Pinny on the blackberry. As usual, the only problem is picking winners.

on my sprint treo and many other sprint treos you cant access gambling sites. Be careful when finding a sprint phone

Will it run the dynamic lines display from Pinnacle where it automatically updates the lines???

I just called sprint and asked about this plan... 39.99 a month unlimited data from sprint and it does not charge against your minutes. You can also use your new PDA as a modem also which is pretty cool.

Unlimited Data Plan for Phone as Modem
Sprint Phone as Modem Plans
Your Sprint Power VisionSM phone can be a high-speed Internet connection for your laptop computer anywhere on the Sprint wireless high-speed multimedia network. Connect your Power Vision phone using a USB cable or the built-in connection on Bluetooth-enabled phones.

Which sites are you trying? I have a Treo and can get through to most of them no problems, with the big caveat that Pinny can be difficult to access at times. They are a bit of a hassle compared to connecting online, but nothing you can't get around pretty quickly with a little experience.

i got the sidekick2 and its just fine, so i'm assuming the sidekick3 would at least be just as sufficient. and i use it frequently to place bets and check scores

Has anyone been able to bet Horses at Pinny on one of these devices? Requires Java. Thanks.

All the devices have Java. The issue with Pinny is there is some certificate issue. You might see it when you use Pinny on a regular browser. The PDA phones have trouble with this error and don't let you log in as a result.

I see. Thanks for the info.

If anyone does find a way to bet the Horses at Pinny on any sort of wireless handheld, I hope they will bring this fact to our attention. That would be a big help.

It is tough when there is a sweet opportunity at the track and you are traveling or whatever and won't be able to access a computer that day. How great would it be just to pull out your cell phone or PDA and get it done that way at a rest stop or something? Can't wait.

Others offer online wagering on horses, albeit less rebates than Pinny. If you only do it occasionally might as well use the others since with horses you don't have to do any line shopping. That is the only reason to go through all this trouble with PDA phones for betting, to pick up the good pricing at Pinny and a few others and the free half points at Skybook, all available only online.

I don't bet horses, but I have noticed that I can't bet them using my sidekick2 at either 5dimes and Pinny, problem with the java acript and the frames that the web pages are created in.

I have a sidekick2, I've made wagers at pinnacle on it. It works well, also has aol and yahoo messenger on the phone and it works just as quick as on a pc. My girlfriend has a blackberry and she isn't happy with it, her text messages come in hours or days later sometime. I alsowas interested in the ppc but talked to a guy who worked in a sprint store who had one and he said it was junk. I am posting this on my sidekick.....goodluck

anpyanks, yes you can on a Cingular Blackberry, I used a friend of mine's to log onto Pinny last week, as I have three friends with Blackberrys, one with a 6700, and two with Treo 650s, all bring up Pinny, yet the 6700 needs much more use of slide bars to navigate the page left/right up/down.

I am undecided as to which I will choose Blackberry, Treo 650/700, 6700,etc.., but must choose one soon, as College Football beckons, and I need one to be able surf the Rx for info while tailgating, to bet Halftimes from the noisy Stadiums, make good use of travel time on the road,etc...

I need to learn more on the Sidekick2.
