My draft is coming up Saturday and I have the dreaded 4th pick. If the big 3 RBs (LJ, LT, Alexander) go 1-2-3, who should I take number 4? I really don't like any of the players much in this spot and we are not allowed to trade picks. Advice appreciated

advice= don't play:lolBIG:

I also have a draft also coming (Sunday) after I swore last year I was not going to play but now kind of excitied about it.

Was listening to a show on the radio yesterday about draft strategy and the host sadi NEVER take a QB before the 5th round because you can get a ton of above average ones who can put up huge numbers later in draft.

I am going to use this strategy. He said load up on RB's and some WR in the ist 4-5 rounds. Worse case scenairo he said you will hae alot of trade power later in year with a surplus of good RB's

Maybe some guy will taks Manning before you. Thats what happened in my league. Manning went #1. lol 2 Alexander 3 I go LT and 4th was Johnson. Depends on the scoring of the legue. How many teams also play into that.

Unless you get equal points for a passing TD as other TD's, NEVER, NEVER take a QB in the first two rounds. RB's will carry you to long-term success.

Sevy Manager - At 1.5 I would look at Steven Jackson.

It's a fairly weak league so one of those 3 falling to me is a possibility. I just need a backup plan. Looks like most sites have Portis and Barber ranked next but I have my doubts about both. Didn't like that Was traded for Duckett, they could use him to spell Portis. Also think the Gmen offense will take a step back this year. Manning is a possibility but I would rather take a 1A QB like Palmer or Brady. I think Rudi Johnson (and the Bengals O) is going to have a big season. Just doesn't seem to be as many fantasy studs this year

What's your scoring system? Do RBs get points for receptions? What about receivers? At this spot, I might consider drafting Harrison (I'm not concerned that the Colts running game will be weakened enough to really affect his numbers).

One big advantage Tiki has is he will always get the ball. When they are down, he gets short passes. Others like Rudi Johnson are out of the offense because the Bengals throw, throw, throw, and not to him.

Barber shouldn't be in the number four spot. Anyone who drafts him there, will, imo, overpay for him. Portis makes me nervous, just don't like the situation around him.

And QBs, in my experience, don't tend to have enough of a dropoff from Tier 1 to Tier 2 rankings, to warrant drafting them in the first round. Now, that's just me, and I always try to load up on RBs in the first two rounds ... but then my scoring system and ridiculously competitive and deep league (there are 14 of us, with 22-man rosters) makes RBs far more valuable than normal. If you're thinking non-RB, I would aim at one of the top-3 receivers, Harrison preferably.

I would like to get a couple top notch receivers. Really want Chad Johnson (lovin them Bengals) but my league is full of Bengal fans (Im a Steeler fan). Will be interesting to see what the St Louis offense does this year without Martz. Bulger killed my team last year when he went down - I also had Holt.

I can't remember the scoring system. I have been procrastinating on getting my draft shit ready and haven't even looked at it. Just like in college, it's all done at the last minute. It's pretty standard scoring - touchdown heavy

TD-heavy? That changes things. Could you have a boo at your system and post it for us quickly?

And, since I failed to say this earlier, thanks for bringing this up! I love this game and can't wait for my draft(s) next week!

Here's a handy tool for you to try:

http://www.antsports.com/adp.aspx

Here's how it works: this site attracts some of the most über-diehard FF players around. These guys participate in mock drafts, mostly to see how things would fare for them if they changed it up a little. Anyway, they compile the average draft info into a database ... all you do is plug in your variables (number of teams, scoring system, TE/flex req's, etc) and it spits out the latest mock draft averages. I always run this off in the days coming up to my draft, in case someone's been hurt and I didn't hear about, obviously affecting their ranking.

Hope this helps you ... and do NOT tell your draftmates about it. :) Handy little tool, especially in a not-so-competitive league. It'll save you tons of work.

I would consider Steve Smith. Running backs are deeper than wide receivers this year IMO. Your second round pick will find no real marquee receivers left, yet there will be a couple quality running backs available.

I love these type of threads. People giving advice and what not is great, however without knowing the scoring system for that particular league, it is imposssible to give any good advice. Please post that, and I would be happy to chime in. People always underrate how much different a pick should be based on the scoring system

WVU - are you NUTS

Steve Smith #4 overall? if you feel this way let me know and i will create an opening in my league for you - you are DEAD MONEY

Fair is probbaly DEAD ON - Tiki

i am lucky this year - i have the #10 and then #19 pick so i don't have to worry about who i will/won't get because i know by the time i pick most of the players that will be gone

Yes even if it is a point a catch league, Steve Smith is a horrible selection anywhere above 8 or 9 and should not even be taken there.

Steve Smith is at best a third rounder...Take Peyton, then look for solid RBs in round 2 and 3. RBs are Deep this year. Lots of young studs at the RB position. Plus use a late pick on Deangelo Williams from Carolina, DeShaun Foster will not last the year as their Number 1.

Check fftoday.com they have pretty solid projections

At that spot I think you need to take Tiki. Don't take a WR or QB at that position. Let some doofus to that ahead of you. Hopefully someone will take manning and one of the big 3 will drop to you.

I was in a Yahoo draft yesterday and someone took Neil Rackers in the 7th round! That summed up the kind of draft it was. People taking defenses in the 4th round. Good for me.
