Tonight the Connecticut Sun travel to play the Detroit Shock in Game 1 of the best of three Eastern Conference Finals. The Connecticut Sun won the Eastern Conference regular season with a record of 26-8 while the Detroit Shock finished second with a record of 23-11. However, the Shock won all 3 games between these two teams, namely 77-73 (OT) and 70-64 in Connecticut and 88-65 in Detroit. More importantly, the Sun will be without star player Katie Douglass who fractured her foot in their last game in the semi-finals against Washington. Detroit is a strong defensive team coached by Bill Laimbeer who has transferred his old Detroit mentality to this team. Connecticut is a strong offensive team but will badly miss Douglass. I have played this very large and have moved the line at a number of outs. The side opened at 2 and is currently 4 or better across the board. However, when I play this large, I play the moneyline. Hence,

5* Detroit Shock -179

Good luck all.

P.S. This game is only televised on NBATV. For those that want to follow, I would suggest Yahoo.com, click on Sports and then click on the WNBA and the Box Score and you will get play by play very timely.

5* plays are very, very rare for me. Last one was the 2005 Rose Bowl when USC beat Michigan.

Thanks for play!

fwiw I completely concur. Having followed the WNBA all year, I would say that Det is the tuffest match-up for Conn. Both are by far the two most talented teams in the East.

Det has had moments during the regular season where they have come out flat and w/o emotion and thus have been whipped a few times this year. Now that its playoff time, it looks like flat games are over. They put up 90 points vs the best regular season defense in Indiana. In sweeping Indy, they worked all the best parts of thier game, fast break off, off rebounding, getting the into the heads of the opposing coach and refs.

Now here comes Conn, w/o one of the leagues best players [douglas] , having lost all three games vs det this year.

Sales for Conn has not found her stroke at all in two games vs a weak def team in Wash. Now she goes against the 2nd best def in the East.

This is a three game series, Det should be completely focused, while Conn knows they come back home no matter what.

My call is the last three minutes we will see the Conn coach pull his starters in disgust or get thrown out of the game to try and set a tone for game two, either way Det wins by eight or more barring foul trouble with Cheryl Ford.

If you do not like the ML or the spread, then I suggest you play a teaser with
Det and Sac.

Wow, Shock are getting steamed hard.

Pretty sure I just flushed $$ down the drain on Conn.

Good luck Oldman Ted, I too am on the Shock at -3 1/2.

Funny note about the western conference finals..." The Sparks will be hosting Game Two on this series not at the Staples Center on Saturday afternoon, but at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. "American Idol" auditions will temporarily displace the Sparks".

That's when you know your league is really disrespected, when you get your playoff games bumped out for American Idol.
