Orlando Cabrera tries to beat Alex Cora to the bag on a slow chopper up the middle with Mirabelli running to first instead of flipping to Kennedy who was waiting at the bag. Cora ends up beating him to 2nd and he throws out Mirabelli for the out. This brought in the leading run BOS 2-0

No outs Man 2nd and 3rd and sharply hit ground ball to left field which Willy Mo Pena fields practically 10-15 feet behind shortstop, 3rd base coach sends Rivera home from 3rd just as Pena fields the ball and is dead at the plate. 2-1 Then Napoli hits the would be Sac fly that could have tied the game.

2 dumb plays that probably just cost them the game. Could have been 2-1 LAA if they just played conventional baseball

I'm an Angel season seat holder since 1999. It is bad enough we have to deal with the likes of Artie Moron who has done the impossible by the way.....HE HAS ACTUALLY MADE US MISS DISNEY'S OWNERSHIP !!!!

But now this. Ok....Orlando Cabrera's play was indeed moronic. No doubt about it.....but I can write that off as a brain fart by a proven shortstop who gets the mental part of the game correct 99% of the time.

But this so-called third base coach they have is killing the team !!!! This is NOT the first game he has single-handedly cost the Angels. Arguably he cost them the game Wednesday night by NOT sending the runner with TWO outs in a similar situation.......and this goes WAY further back.

A month ago I listened to the Angel post game show and a caller was screaming for the third base coach's blood citing 7 bad decisions he had made in a 5 game span.

The PUNCHLINE is that the Angels sent out reminders via e-mail today about the 9/1 deadline for buying playoff tickets for season seat holders. The PLAYOFFS ??? HAH !!! Try playing like a team that wants to break 500 before breaking my balls about money for playoff tickets !!!

Hell....this team's owner doesn't even know which friggin' CITY his team plays in !!! Hey Artie......why dontcha buy a stinkin MAP !!! Anaheim is wher the Angels play. If you want to watch a team play in LA go to a damn Dodger game. In fact that's a great idea.....GO to a LOT of Dodger games and stay the F*CK away from Angel Stadium !!!

Don't get me started !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Sure Guy.........

First of all...yes Rivera was indeed safe at home.....and no it isn't the point......you simply don't send a guy into a close play with nobody out. You seem to get that. Good for you.

As for me not being an Angel fan.....well...I'm not sure what your basis for determining that little factoid is. Perhaps you would like to share your reasoning with me. You are cordially invited to join me for a game in my seats in Section 318 Row B. I am in those seats for most of the home games.

I'm sorry you are sick. However, if my telling it like it is about Artie Moronic is what has you infirmed, please save us all alot of time and get on your knees right now in front of the porcelin container of your choosing....because it's going to be a long night.

If you would like to deteriorate this little exchange of baseball ideology into a personal matter, I would be happy to contribute to any thread you start on the topic in the Rubber Room.

On the other hand, if you have something constructive to say that justifies the incompetant coaching or the deterioration in management that plagues the Angels, please.....by all means....share it with the rest of us.....or join me for a ballgame and we can hash it out over beer & barbeque. Either way....I'm very pleased to share my opinions on Artie Moronic and the so-called third base coach who I refuse to even dignify by saying his name.

Oh and by the way..............

DON'T GET ME STARTED !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your passion for the game is impressive Zapster, I have praised you much in the past for your Half time Buckets. But as a life long Angel fan and a Orange County native, it pains me to here anything of the sort about the other team across the way. You have to understand I am sarrounded by Dojuor fans constantly at work.....which Im trying to figure out your "container" reference..lol

Anyways, I have alot constructive to say about the Angel games, but that doesnt mean I will bad mouth OC when he doesnt go home from second with 1 out, down by 1 run the night before...or when Salmon who is a horrible tipper, watches 3 pitches go down the tube without swinging with the bases loaded down by 1 run. allright you got me.. But it hurts.. So i guess it makes me sick to here the truth. Since i think you are the only other Angel fan around this forum.

what time do you want me to pick you up for the game?

Rivera was safe but it was a horrible call nonetheless. I thought for sure he'd get held up and immediately started yelling at the screen as i saw rivera coming home. Napoli could have tied it with his sac fly

Well Patrick....sorry to disappoint you but it looks like SureGuy and I are about to :toast: I must admit part of me was looking forward to some MAJOR trashtalk, but it seems he & I feel the same pain to a certain extent.

Now time for Angel talk....with a slightly lower level of blood pressure I suppose.........:

Yes OC should have scored on the Quinlan hit in the 7th.....and I stand corrected.....it happened with ONE out not two.....so this is not among the many sins of the (still refusing to say the name of) third base coach. And that play was followed by Tim's strikeout looking at a meatball that Mama Leone herself could not have made tastier. But these guys play their hearts out every time they are in the game. So sure I hated it when they didn't score....but it's not the same as watching Garret Anderson cadillac it in left field turning outs into triples......or watching that same individual strike out and walk to the dugout after the catcher misses the ball. Yes....he has had clutch hits this week, but if I were Scosia, "GA" would have been benched and traded two years ago.

But I will deal with Mr. Anderson some other time.......this is about management and coaching.

I'm not an OC native....but I AM one of the few who actually went to Angel games before the '02 season. Back then season ticketholders were treated like royalty by Disney management. Now Artie's guys perpetually demonstrate that they would rather retail out the seats from the box office. If I didn't have such good seats I would tear up the bill....but I keep renewing in the hopes that the dark days of Artie Moronic will pass. After game 7 vs SF, my son and I drove home through the streets of ANAHEIM via State College Blvd and my son high fived about 200 people through the moving car window who lined the street celebrating the world championship. The world series was won in Anaheim. The team plays in Anaheim. Not LA. I'm from Brooklyn (does it show ?? haha)...not OC.....but I am horrifed on behalf of you OC natives for the utter lack of respect for the city that has supported this team for these years, on the part of Artie Boy. This is as bad as calling the Pack "The Milwaukee Packer of Green Bay."

As for the third base coach......this has been going on all season. A coach making a mental error is inexcusable....especially when it happens repeatedly. I daresay this guy has cost the Angels 5 games this year. Why put up with that ?? His learning curve needed to happen in March. This is August. He is paid to do one thing.....and he can't seem to handle it. Better to cut losses now. Jered Weaver really deserved better than he got last night and his streak is intact if we have a competant third base coach.

Soooo.....there is my rant for now. I sold my tickets for tonight's game in disgust.....but if you (SureGuy) would like to catch a game down the stretch, ask the mods for my e-mail addy and maybe we can figure something out.

Otherwise.....see ya down the road in the NBA forum......and thanks mucho for the kind words.
