TIME FOR THE SOUTHERN REGION OF THE UNITED STATES TO START SWEATING.

:smoking:

The intensity forecast is tricky to say the least. First of all... the system has to survive the strong westerly shear it will be experiencing for the next day or two. This is by no means certain and it wouldn't be a huge surprise for the depression to dissipate in the "graveyard" of the eastern Caribbean Sea... like some of the global models are forecasting. However...if the tropical cyclone survives...and this is a big if...global models remove the shear by fracturing the mid-oceanic trough in the western Caribbean. This pattern change sends an upper-level low into the Gulf of Mexico in 3 days while building upper ridging near the depression. This could allow the system to strengthen especially as it enters the western Caribbean. On the other hand... global models have notoriously weakened upper-level cyclones too quickly in the past and the mid-oceanic trough has been quite persistent and stronger-than- normal in that area this season. After saying all this... the intensity forecast will be quite similar to previous. However if the low shear environment the global models are forecasting materializes in the western Caribbean... TD five could be a lot stronger than shown below in the later periods.

Our news people are so happy. They have been so disappointed with the quiet season to date.

As an adjuster, I'm a fan of hurricanes.
Though I'm still working Katrina and Rita,
I just hope this storm hits anywhere but New Orleans, that will the biggest cluster of claim crap ever.
Wilma, for the most part has been taken care of, so a Florida blast wouldn't be near as bad.

In my line of work, I interact with many insurance companies.

Insurance companies, be it auto, homeowners, annuity, life, etc. are the biggest group of scumbags in modern day, corporate America, bar none! It's such a dirty, dirty business to be in. They are even worse than the oil companies.

Insurance companys are the biggest gamblers of them all. They are simply betting an event wont happen. The consumer is betting it will. The consumer gets the worst number usually, but they have to play the insurance game to get a car, house etc. All based on numbers and stats that the insurance company knows forwards and backwards and inflates to make sure its customer gets the worst number possible. Providing a service and looking for bottom line like any company.

Insurance co.s definately have their ducks lined up.
The thing is, they have set policies and if something is owed to an insured, it is paid.
i.e State Farm.
There is a story coming out tonight on 20/20 that is a joke about State Farm.
Two sisters say that STF was shredding documents and what-not in order to avoid paying for damaged houses under the Homeowners policy that that were washed away in Mississippi when the Gulf of Mexico took out everything in its path.

These chicks used to be managers for the same company I currently work for, and they had a falling out with STF mgmt.
They are getting a pretty penny for lying through their teeth.
I know this because two people I currently work with (same company) worked with these chicks in Biloxi.

Insurance companies actually have insurance for major catastrophes.
