Weather is being blamed for the crash in the early reports...reporting one survivor.

This was the first major crash in nearly five years- ending the safest run in aviation history.

CNN site says:

It is unclear what caused the crash. There were no reports of bad weather in the Lexington area.

"It was dark at the time of the accident, but it was clear," Brown said.

A team of National Transportation Safety Board investigators is heading to the crash site to begin an investigation.

Pretty interesting. It goes to show, no matter how much you get your shoes X-Ray'd. Something could still happen.

I would never fly in one of those commuter planes.

Ditto....but flying is still by far and away the safest way to travel as marked in that period of 5 yrs

Very true. I have seen some pretty crazy auto accidents lately.

yep and auto accidents where alot of people die that happen many times a day do not get the coverage as ONE plane crash like this

hence it stirs public paranoia with flying

Sad. The airport is right next to Lexington racetrack. Good chance there were some racing folk on that plane. Prayers to their families.

I think there's a plane crash for every one of my birthdays.

I remember waking up to hear that Steve Ray Vaughn had died in a plane crash on this day. :cryingcry

I believe the reports will show that they were attempting takeoff on the wrong runway, one intended for smaller, private planes.

Whether the pilots got it wrong (unlikely) or were directed incorrectly by the tower will soon be determined.

Thoughts and prayers to all the families.

wrong runway is a pretty idiotic move.

one is lit and one isnt.

hmmm.. , lets try the unlit runway in the dark..

what a major blunder if it ends up being true.

terrible situation.

They basically have only one runway at that airport.
The other one is much shorter and in poor condition.
