Cashing a vegas sports ticket?

As a tradition, the day I leave Vegas I place a sports wager I can watch when I get home. Unfortunately, this wager was cancelled due to a pitcher change.
So, I have $140 coming back to me. In the past I have sent a winning ticket registered mail in order to get a check from the casino. Registered mail is something like $8. I can justify that if the check I am getting is at least $300; but for $140 it doesn't make much sense.
Need some cheaper suggestions. How should I go about cashing this ticket? It's from a Coast casino if that makes any difference. Should I just send it first class?

TIA

Do you have ANY friends in Vegas?

You could send it to them first class and they could mail it back to you first class via a money order.

For $140, sending first class to and from is the only way I would go about this...........if you possibly can do so.

Send it certified, it is almost the exact same thing...Certified is $2.75..

Certified, is a guarantee that the Casino receives it. Someone has to sign for it.

I used to live in Oregon and I would do this all the time and I just sent the ticket in regular mail. I have always received my $$ in a timely manner. Just send it regular mail with a self addressed envelope with stamp on it back to yourself. I am probably batting 100/100 and have had a lot larger than $ 140. tickets. If worried, Send it to me and I will send you the $$ as I live here in Vegas. Lots of RX,s know me.

Send it certified and make sure you make a copy of it just in case.

Certified mail and use the return receipt option.

That way you will know who actually signed for the letter when it arrived at the casino.

Not quite as safely handled as registered mail, but its cheaper.

Send it to Kermit and youll have your money alot quicker.

Make a copy of it and just send it regular mail. If it
gets lost somehow you'll still get paid via the serial
number. The extra expense is really not necessary.

Surely the worry is more it gets lost coming back to you when it's already cashed...

Your so wrong guys in the mail room love to steal these and have their friends cash them

Once the ticket has been cashed with out someone signing for it what good is a copy going to do.

I believe you can write on the ticket in pen:

For redemption by ____ only with mailed check to ____ only and sign it.

Not sure it would hold up, but I am fairly certain a mail room theif would probbaly toss that one and not cash it allowing you to use the serial number.

Sent the ticket first class mail 8/29. Wrote on it "to be paid by check only," in attempt to thwart fraudulent cashing (thanks Sean1). I realize that part was more symbolic than anything else, but it game me some peace of mind.

Pleased to report I found a check in the PO box today.
