Fans and bettors seem to be unhappy about the key rule changes being implemented for the upcoming college football season. Specifically, the clock will run after each change of possession after the ball is spotted. However, I strongly agree with the change. College football games are way too long.

I have to agree with Fezzik.

Saturday always feels like you just finished some exhausting marathon, where as NFL Sunday seems to zip right by.

I agree games are too long, but that seems a stupid time to start the clock. Why not just use NFL rules and start the clock when the ball is spotted after an Out of Bounds?

Anyway, I wonder if there will be money to be made on Over/Unders? Obviously the books will adjust, but seems like there might be a few good totals in the first few weeks.

here's a crazy idea: shorten the length of commercials between play

No shit....it sucks being at a game that is constantly held up for bullshit mandated tv timeouts. Screw the networks-fit the ads in around the game-not the other way around. Greedy bastards.

"Only in America" :p

If Americans ran FIFA they'd probably divide the game into eighths so they could get enough commercials.

And in Europe, most games are on pay per view (At least they all were when I was in Italy)

Commercials are a necessary evil of being able to see almost every game for near free...

In England, 50 games are on PPV Each year. 138 are on non-PPV channels. You can buy a subscription to the PPV Channel for £60 annually, so it's no different to NFL Direct TV I would argue, in fact it's cheaper.

Italian, German, Scottish, French and a myriad of other leagues are also shown free here, in addition to upwards of 50 Cup and International games, many of which are on free-to-air stations.
