Was wondering Rail's thoughts on Bethanie's chances against the gangly Hantuchova.
Also on the huge line move on Querrey, -120 to -340.

Kohlscreiber claiming he's not 100% on his website.

Rail whats your opinion of Scoville Jenkins? Is he good enough to take care of a hobbled Bjorkman?

I am really hoping people drive that number on Hantuchova down. Mattek is crap. She beat Pennetta cause Pennetta was hurt. Dani has had a decent summer and was very competitive in her 3 losses against Serena, Dementieva, and Hingis. Dani does better in Slams than she does in minor tourneys. She will make you sweat against anyone though so probably win 7-5 in 3rd. LOL. At -363 it's a bit much but I am thinking money will come in on Mattek hopefully.

Altice,
Passing on it personally. Wouldn't bet Dani at those odds as you know she is very inconsistent.

Yeah, she and Dementieva will drive you to the insane asylum if you bet on them as chalk. Unfortunately for me, Dementieva is my favorite player.

can this Jenkins guy really beat Bjorkman? I see that Jenkins won his first round match last year

and the line keeps getting more inflated on Dani, no one giving Mattiek a shot. I too was hoping it would go the other way

Railbird doesn't always win (i.e. US Open today). In fact, when I check plays that I've followed from Railbird over the past year, I'm just a little bit down (including college basketball, etc...).

I always seem to miss his winning plays and get on the losing ones.

No offence, Railbird, think you're great. Just can't quite time you correctly....

I would venture Rail and just about any handicapper is far more effective following the minor tourneys no one is paying attention to. Those bets on early rounds of women's tournaments in foreign countries have to be gold mines for dedicated bettors.

Yea, I've been betting more on the "obscure" sports--Nascar, movie openings, horse matchups, Little League (following knowledgable RX posters) and have been doing OK.

Anyone know anything about yachting? Or chess? C'mon people.

Couldn't disagree any more. In the early rounds due to having 128 players in the field especially in the women's game, you have players who shouldn't even be allowed on the same court as some of the people they are facing. Second, you have a whole season worth of statistics on a particular surface. Third, you can get a good guage of the really lower level players by looking at the qualifying rounds. Fourth, players usually rest up for the Slams and try to avoid themselves from coming into a Slam injured. Finally, since there is more money involved and every one of the top players has a city or Grand Slam they like to play in, you can get a much better guage on how hard a player will play. Take Schnyder for instance. She got whupped or tanked last week just like she did for the French Open. Just like in French Open 1st round and US Open 1st round, the idiots bet her down to like -350 lower against Krajicek. She won in a cakewalk both times. Now today, she's like -520 against Arviddson who's probably a better player. than Smashnova. She hates grass and doesn't even play the warmups. The first round of Slams are great. I have gotten destroyed in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the Grand Slams this year so I am pretty nervous going into today but couldn't disagree on 1st round of Slams being tough(at least in women's game).
