ya they have been fortunate no one wants to win the division...tigers at least have the more favorable schedule the rest of the way...cws have 17 road games and 11 home games the rest of the way...minny has to play out the string with only 1 day off the rest of the way...tigers have 4 vs minny and 3vs cws left...every other team is out of it with only 2 vs texas being a team thats around .500 (that and the last 2 vs the angels this series)

its still not over by a longshot...

87 of the 90 teams too have a 4.5 game lead or higher on Sept.1 have went on to win the division. Of the 3 who didn't hang on 2 ended up tied and lost the one game playoff.

until my futures are graded as W's....its not over by a longshot...a month ago the redsox lead the east by a few games today they are 8back....ive seen too much shit in my short life to get overconfident...esp with a team as young as detriot...they have been able to avoid the long losing streak thanks to their great starting pitching...rogers has stepped up bigtime the last month carrying this team on his back...he has single handedly stopped every losing streak they had during august...

i was happy as a pig in shit last night seeing the tigers win and cws lose to kc and yanks take care of minny...

What concerms me for them...they can't seem to beat NYY or CHI and that is the playoff teams...they will get in, just not sure they are able to compete againt those teams, so far they have not proven they can really play with those two teams..

Best scenerio for the Tigers is for White Sox to get wild-card. Playoff matchups would be Detroit-A's (favorable for Detroit), and White Sox-Yanks (beat each other up, Tigers only have to play one of those teams).

FW you hit the nail on the head...actually its even be better to see the twins get in the WC as det will still play A's in the 1st round...and if minny could knock off the nyy the tigers would play them in the next round...and they have done well vs them this season...(esp if liriano is on the shelf for the rest of the year)....radke is a walking band aid right now...the 1st game would be probably rogers vs santana in detriot...twins have won like 21 in a row at home with him starting...but wouldnt be the case here...the 2345 of minny is very suspect...

I would like to see the Twins make it, but it looks like they fall a little short. Radke has a stress fracture in his arm? I know they really like the kid who replaced Liriano, but his innings are up there too. Bonzer and Silva - no way.

The White Sox could cause problems for the Yankees with their lineup. Both pitching staffs are about the same also. If both teams beat the heck out of each others bullpens, then the Tigers would have a small advantage.

Right now I rank the AL teams:

1-NYY
2-ChiSox
3-Detroit
4-AL West winner
5-Twins

The A's have the West all but sewn up and they have flown severely under the radar. Don't let them fool you, they are as live as anyone come playoff time.
