4-1 (+4.27 units) friday
146-117 (+50.93 units) overall

I took Saturday off to concentrate on college football. Last week when I said as soon as I lose two days in a row I was going to stop bases and concentrate on just football. I don't know how, but I have not had a losing day since then. There is not doubt that luck is involved. I did not play yesterday, but I would have taken a beating. I was due for a day like that, so how lucky was I that I did not play or post any picks? Lets see what we have for Sunday.

Atlanta +101 vs Phillies, game one (3 units)...............Even though Hudson is not having his typical year, I have to go with him in this spot. He has solved the phillies this year anyway, going 2-0 with an era of 1.42 vs them. Phils having been blowing games in the late innings lately. I suspect this will be a close game headed to the seventh inning with Moyer who has pitched well also opposing him. I look for the braves to find a way to win it in the last two innings. Even though the phils are playing decent ball, they still are losing more at home than they do on the road.

Dodgers -142 vs Colorado (3 units)....................Colorado was in the race for a while, but now they are done. Dodgers playing very good ball at home and have won seven in a row again. It looks like it is time to ride the dodgers again, especially at home. Not bad odds at all to get them at home. I really like this one. Sele already beat the rocks this year, he is 1-0, with an era of 1.04. There is no reason to think he and the hot dodgers cannot do it again. Solid play with some value.

San Diego -127 vs Cincinnati (2 units).................The reds are struggling losing 8 of their last 10 and playing at the wildcard leading padres does not help. The pads are playing with confidence right now and get their new starting pitcher in David Wells throwing tonight. Yes my first thughts were David Well sucks. He must be really bad for a team like the redsox who are hurting for some decent starting pitching, in a wildcard race, to let him go. That is how I would normally play this game. I am going with my gut here and saying the change will do him some good, at least for his first few starts. It has been a while since anybody in the nl has seen him, so that might help. Even if he does not pitch that great, I think the padre bats can bail him out of this one. Once again, getting nice odds for a home team vs a struggling team. Cannot pass this up even though it is scary with Wells.

Phillies -(?) vs Atlanta, game two (2 units)............There is no line on this game yet. The pitching matchup is supposed to be Myers vs Cormier. I don't care what the odds are, I will take this, but, it is only a play if Atlanta wins game one and Myers must start for the phillies. If either one of them is not true, ignore this play. My obvious thinking of course is the phillies are not going to get swept a double header. Myers has looked great as well recently as well. I know the phils would probably be a 175 favorite at least in this game and I am ok with that. Even if the phils win the first game, I still think they will win the second game, but I am not taking it. The phils have just been too inconsistent at home to sweep a doubleheader vs those pesky braves.

Florida -108 vs Milwaukee (1 unit)........The brewers have played very good ball at home this year, but I have to queston their state of mind right now. I think they are done in the wildcard race. They were in it a week ago, but in a race this tight, with so many teams, one bad week and you are done. Florida has done just the opposite. They have played pretty good ball for at least a week and got right back into. Even though I don't like going against the brewers at home very much, I have to go with the team playing the better ball right now and who has more hopes than the other one. Sure Florida could lose, I am not super confident one this one, that is why it is only one unit.

San Fran +154 vs Cubs (1 unit)............Another play I like, but not crazy about. Huge pitching advantage for the giants in this one. I absolutely hate the giants, but somehow they have got themselves back into the wildcard race, even with bonds playing very well. Cubs have been done most of the year and I still do not know how Dusty Baker has kept this job. But they are the cubs, and they are goofy enough to win games they should not. We all know they always lose games they should win. Only one unit in this one, but giants should take this one.

This will be my last Sunday to post bases as well, even if I keep winning. With the nfl starting next week, I am just going to forget baseball exists on Saturday and Sunday, except for keeping an eye on my phillies since they are still in it somehow.

Good Luck Everybody!!

I will be posting my college football plays for Sunday in a few hours. I am off to a decent start. I am 5-5 (+2.20 units). That is not great, but I have hit all three of my best bets.
