Of course the Reds will be glad to be back home, however, their crucial 2-8 road trip is something that’s going to be extremely difficult to shake off. The Reds are not playing good ball and got killed in three of four games against the Giants during the trip. Cinci was outscored in those last three games 16-2. Furthermore, Bonds, miraculously, is hitting the cover off the ball again, as his .625 average (10-for-16) with four homers, two doubles, six RBIs and nine runs scored over his last six games would attest to. We have no idea what he could possibly be taking but whatever it is, it’s working. The Giants have won 14 of their past 20 games and are right back in the race. The pitching match-up has Aaron Harang going up against Brad Hennessey and while that favors the Reds it’s not going to deter us from playing against a vulnerable Reds team coming home after a long 10-game west coast swing. We hate to kick anyone when they’re down but the Brewers are a pretty easy target these days. They’ve dropped about 100 games in a row, or so it seems, to fall completely off the map and things don’t figure to get better against the Dodgers. Greg Maddux is striving in Dodger Blue and in fact, since arriving he has made six starts and has gone 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA and the Dodgers are 5-1 over that span. The Dodgers have seven of eight games and couldn’t have handpicked a better opponent. Milwaukee is sinking faster than Maurice Clarett. The Brewers have been outscored by 30 runs over its last 10 games, all losses. They’re hitting a puny .213 over that stretch and their not getting the pitching to compensate. Ben Sheets is not throwing for Milwaukee and that’s all we really need to know. Maddux is a master at making struggling hitters look bad and we have no idea how this one could possibly go any other way. Play: Los Angeles –1 –1.03 (Risking 1.55 units to win 1.5).
