did you know that they used the same chips this year that they used in 2005? That would explain why there was 5% more chips at the final table than there should have been. When watching the final table online they briefly talked about it and said the overage was due to them taking away the smaller denomination chips. They said they rounded up. I say they are bullshitting and the rounding up probably only contributed to 1/2 of 1 percent of the total. The reality is lots of last year's chips made it into this year's game.

They paid 95 cents per chip. They bought 750,000 chips in 2005. I guess they didn't want to spring for new chips.

So are you saying some players cheated with extra chips.

I disagree. Think about it how many times do you think they had to chip up, over how many days. All the 5's and 25's need to go. All the 100,s and 500's have to go. That is a ton of chips with 8,000 plus in the WSOP. So I could see it.

yes players cheated. There is absolutely no way to account for 5% through chipping up. Also you have to take into account the chips that leave as souvenirs and lost chips.

A good friend of mine is in negotiations with Harras. He is going to buy all the chips at cost and sell them as sets. 170 sets will be complete sets with all denominations including the 100,000 chip. He is having them date the chips next year also so that they will be one of a kind. Both he and they are excited about this venture. Harras wants 12-14% of the profits as well. They are going to give him exclusive rights to the chips and all the marketing. They paid 50 million for the WSOP name in 2003. That was a steal.

If people stole chips from last year, then they can us them this year with a slight of hand.

I mean it isnt much, but what if someone stole a few 10,000 chips when it was early on and they only had lets say 110,000 or so? Well in a double-up situation, those 20,000 chips just got you an extra $40,000 than what you should have had. They could have stolen bigger chips than that I guess

Now I understand....but dont they keep track hand by hand how much a player wins or loses in chips. They had a website that would give you up to the minute chip counts

Personally, I dont think that there is a player alive that would pocket a chip in the WSOP and hope that they used the same chips next year. How would you feel when you busted out in the WSOP and know that you still had 10k in chips?

Many $25 chips are kept as souvenirs. People are selling them on ebay
