The starts

Charlie Batch's two starts in 2005 in place in Ben Roethlisberger:

Nov. 6
Steelers 20, Packers 10

Efficient in first start since 2001, completing 9 of 16 for 65 yards and 1 INT.

Nov. 13
Steelers 34, Browns 21

Passes for 150 yards (13 for 19) and 1 TD and runs for another to help open a 17-7 halftime lead before he is knocked from the game with a broken right hand.

One BIG negative for Pitt is their winning of the SUPERBOWL last season............that worries me more than BIG BEN being out.

Screw it, will just keep my Bonus Bet on them with Mansion and that will be it............

+710 PITT COVERS
+290 MIA COVERS

MIAMI's defense should be one of the TOP THREE in the NFL this coming season............they are loaded defensively.

Cleveland and GB at that point in the season last year were about as bad as teams got...

Pittsburgh will be fine in this game. Batch/BSP are very good at protecting the ball and limiting turnovers while LeBeau's schemes will cause Culpepper to crap the bed. Culpepper is along the line of Testaverde/Bledsoe/Plummer in that if you can bring consistent pressure he will make mistake after mistake after mistake. Look for a very low scoring ugly game with one defensive TD for Pittsburgh. 17-10 Steelers.

Ben Rothlisberger is overrated and Charlie Batch is not the worst backup. If Tommy Maddux was still backing up, you'd have Miami -3 1/2 by now. The Steelers won last season because of their defense and that's what wins them the game on Thursday.

He arguably had one of the greatest playoff runs in NFL history, and is the youngest QB to win a Superbowl. He did not play well in the SB, but good enough. But that playoff run was amazing. Look at his record as a starting QB. Speaks for itself.

Sure he has a great team around, but he is an integral part of that team.

tough game to bet but I specifically remember those games Batch played in last year and he was nothing special. The only thing good was he didn't turn the ball over which is fine versus bad teams but when you play decent teams you have to make a play and Batch CANNOT make a play.

Pittsburgh had a helluva a run last year where everything went right but Batch will be exposed as a BIG weakness and Saban knows how to make that happen. Not saying Pitt won't win but there is no way anyone should be at all confident in Charlie Batch leading this team.
