Has a manager of the year ever been subsequently fired?

All indications are that Joe Girardi is gone because he doesn't get along with Loria. I don't see how he doesn't get manager of the year if the Marlins make the playoffs.
I'm guessing maybe Billy Martin had it happen to him.

other than the fact that his kids obviously love playing for him...im sure he's not losing any sleep at night....

I remember back in the mid 70's Ted Marchibroda was fired after being coach of the year leading the Colts to 3 straight division titles (75-77), the team rallied around Ted and he was rehired.....

With a meddling imbosol owner like Robert Irsay (perhaps the worst owner in the history of pro sports) anything could have happened, and did.

If the Marlins don't make it and the Dodgers do then Grady is probably going to get it would be my guess.
