If you are going to start the clock at the change of each possesion, at least make an exception in the final 2 mins of each half so the trailing team does not have to call a timeout on first down to stop the clock. This rule is going to ruin any chance for any team to comeback late in a game.

If a team is down a score with 2 mins left. The leading team can practically run out the entire clock even if the trailing team has 3 timeouts.

This is a complete joke.

Yep. I can understand wanting to speed up the game. But if they are going to do these rules, they need to do it up until there is 5:00 left in each half.

i see one point of view, but why should a team that wasn't able to produce all game, be able to come back in win it because of good clock management. I think this will make the game a little more enjoyable instead of exciting for only the last few minutes. OR maybe im a complete ass, you decide

Now teams up by 2 scores can go into delay mode with 5 minutes or so in the game. Thats not going to make it very exciting.

i said the same exact thing last week, if you are going to do this it needs also to be accompanyed by a 2 min warning or not have this in effect for the last 2 mins of a half or game.

Fact is this rule has done nothing really to speed up the game, if they wanted to do that, they should have just used the clock the NFL uses, not this bastardized version of some sort of experiment...

I agree a total joke, they MUST ammend this rule...it's bad enough that they made this rule , the end of halves are so differently played out now.

Very sad what these idiots did changing this.

Prime example just now of the total stupidity of this rule, OSU scores with 11 secs before the half, texas gets the touchback, can't run a play as the clock wound down, how is that GOOD for the game?!

I would be surprised if they didn't get rid of at least this part of the rule. NFL has given them the most obvious example of how to make games faster, why not just follow their rules? NFL games even with too many commercials still almost always end at 3 hours or less unless there is a ton of points or OT.

That would be too easy. NCAA Rules Committee needs to get a clue. :smoking:

I feel there will be enough head coaches complaining about this in the offseason they will get rid of it. Why change it if nothing was wrong with it? Was anyone complaining about the length of CFB games? i don't think so.

Makes absolutely no sense. About 100 other ways to shorten the game without altering the play on the field

Can honestly anyone say that they like the rules changes? Seriously? What good does it do for the game. The clock runs when nothing is going on between change of possession? I just dont get it. They are taking away more excitement from us than ever before.

It will definitely be changed to something next season...too bad we have to sit through 8 more exciting weeks of this shit...going to cost quite a few teams comeback wins.

I guess it works like this. If it's somthing important that we all complain about, like the OT rules in the NFL or the lack of a NCAA football playoff system then they won't do anything about it. But if it's something that we don't complain about, like the length of an NCAA game, then they must take immediate action!
