Unfortunately, Western Union has stated that they do not support transactions to gambling sites and have been increasing their efforts to block such transactions.

To ensure our players safe and fast deposits, we have had to stop offering Western Union as a deposit method.

We made this decision on behalf of our players, as it became serious enough that it was affecting the safety of your funds and your ability to place wagers. This is especially unacceptable considering we are headed into Football, by far the most popular season for our players.

We want you playing and we have several options for you to make your deposits quickly and securely. For more information on all of our deposit methods, please click here:

BTW western union never supported books, if you told a clerk you were going to gamble with the money they would block the tranx.

deuce, it's your money! No need to tell them anything. None of their business. I have used WU many times and never a problem. Just so happens the books are now stopping WU payments coming in.

I remember 2 years ago B365 let me fund WU, but refused to pay me that way. Same with Pinny.

Western Union was always a ripoff with their charges. When I first saw the Casino Cash deal in Las Vegas where they wire a cheque to the cage I simply could not believe their cut, but I could believe the stupidity of players who urgently needed more money. I guess they're mostly ripping off immigrants now.

True. But if you sent a certain amount, you got refunded the charges, often with a bonus. The anonymity of it all was attractive to some of us.

Ha. This is also true. There is some Brazillian shop with a money gram sticker in the window, about 2 blocks from me. I have tried two times to use it to deposit, two different clerks and both times she acts like she doesn't know how it works. Yeah, right. I guess they are instructed not to deal with non Brazilian/Hispanics.

i used moneygram to deposit into betwwts, very easy and fees much cheaper, of course betwwts covered them anyway, but this is a very similar method to wu to those who are looking for another option...

Royboy, MG is as old school as it gets. First method I ever used, back in about '96. I had to drive 40 minutes to my nearest station. I'd stop at a payphone half way home to get them the info sooner.

I wonder how much WU profits are going to drop since the sportsbooks are "Officially" not taking tranfers via WU........

What I don't understand is why WU would just acquisesce to the government's attempts to stop them from funding offshore books? This was a gold mine for WU and they just gave it up without a fight.

They freaked as soon as the Patriot Act got passed. I Remember getting the letter from Western Union about 2-3 times. It read, 'Due to the patriot act. .'

Screwing gamblers out of using WU is about the only thing the patriot act has accomplished, other than allowing the current admin to snoop on everyone's records without their knowledge.

America safer? That is because airport security got stronger. Take off your shoes.

How do they even prove who their agents are? Seems very suspicious to think WU could stop transactions if all the books are using are agents to pick up money using pretty common names for the local countries. Books can get around WU's restrictions pretty easily when you think about it.

This is true. The problem is the number of transfers coming in to agencies. When they increase dramatically this draws attention. I spoke to the guy responsible for this at pinny a few days ago about this very topic. When they first took WU down about a month ago, they had it back up in about 10 days, and since has been taken back down, for this very reason. The agent(s) they were using started getting heat from WU, same thing for bodog. If you noticed, they were both using the same location, city anyway, as destination.

Pinny told me they would soon have MoneyGram available, but still not sure about WU.
