I was given some as a prescription for headaches, but warned numerous times to "be careful" since its a narcotic..

Whats the big deal? Is it going to knock me out?

I know Brett Favre admited to being hooked on them, then the NFL wouldn't even let him have a beer after that LOL

No not at all, for some reason I have a high tolerance for them and for percocet's and usually have to take 2-3 to get them to work and it would last for a few hours. Was prescribed it for double hernia operation a few years back.

Have not had one yet today, but then again I have not started drinking yet.

This world would be such a better and more productive place if they would make these available over the counter!

I was prescribed Vicodin after I had my tooth pulled. It made my whole body numb. I didn't like it. I couldn't even feel my beer buzz.

Then a couple months later I had some more work done on my teeth and the dentist gave me a choice between 600mg of Motrin and Vicodin and I took the Motrin and it worked great. No numbness. Not habit-forming.

You always have something worth reading. And just imagine, you used that 10,000th post to talk about Vicodin. ;)

:WTF:

Thanks Rob.

I was totally oblivious to getting to that number. I should have thought to say something important. Oh well, at least I was able to say something about my good friend Motrin.

Better living through chemistry I always say.

Prescribed Vicodin

Thank Goodness i'm allergic to them. I threw up for two days after taking? I'm highly intollerant of codeine. What type of headaches, migraine , stree, sinus. Been through the whole lot and lot's of meds for them. For stress, i found Esgic Plus to be the best and won't mess you up.

brock, there was a thread a few mos back in the health and fittness forum about vicodin and its effects. bottom line...take them only when needed on an occasional basis and you should be fine.

they effect all people differently as u can see from some posts...the pills may knock u out...may not. and if they do knock u out, take half...and eventually your body will be a bit more TOLERANT to them and you wont get the knocked out feeling. all pain meds should be taken with some food as they can cause NAUSEA and VOMITTING. please know that these are side effects of the med NOT an allergy as many people state.

PS quantum...600mg (presciption strength) motrin is AKA 3 tablets ibuprophen or advil or motrin, which u get over the counter, so u dont need a docs script for it if u ever need it again.

Get them and then sell them to high schoolers.

Vicodin

If it is a migraine there are several things now that really help. Imitex works the best for me. There is a pill or if you can give yourself an injection the shot is best. They have a small kit that you just shove against your thigh and pull the button. It will make the headache go away, but it will make you dizzy for 10 to 15 minutes. There are several other things. You might want to consult your Dr. Ran all sorts of tests some years back to find out why i was having so often. Sometimes foods, things in the air, allergies, many things can trigger. The sports can really bring themon.Esgic has always worked the best for me.:dancefool
