Who will win MVP & CY in both leagues? Not who should win, but who will win

I'll start with Santana and Carpenter for Cy (although Hoffman deserves consideration in a down yr for NL starters and for the career he has had)

MVP: Pujols, Jeter

Not sure that the voters will be able to get Hoffman's collapse in the All-Star Game and his struggles immediately afterwards out of their memory...

These aren't necessarily MY picks for MVP and Cy Young, but rather who I think will win:

AL Cy Young: Santana
NL Cy Young: Brandon Webb/Chris Carpenter(tossup, but I'd lean towards Webb)

AL MVP: Jermaine Dye
NL MVP: Ryan Howard/Albert Pujols(tossup, but I'd lean towards Howard because of all the press he's gotten recently).

AL : Santana is as sure a thing for Cy Young as there has been in recent years

NL : Carpenter by default, no one except for Webb is even close, and Webb's team is bad, so Carp gets it

AL: I hope its Jermaine Dye, he has been tremendous all year

NL : Has to be Ryan Howard, where would they be without him?

MVP in AL is tough, Jeter is the one who shouldn't win. Dye and Morneau have better numbers. The east coast bias comes into play in these votes. Dye and Morneau are the clear MVP's of their teams. I think Dye's numbers are slightly better. But if the Twins make the playoff's and Wsox don't does Morneau beat Dye? If making the playoffs doesn't matter, Ortiz has good offensive numbers but doesn't play in the field.

Micheal Cuddyer has more doubles, home runs and rbi's than Jeter. The only big offensive stat he has is batting average. If we are to use that as a judge then Joe Mauer would be MVP.

Defensively Jeter is an average shortstop. Out of 10 ss who qualify he ranks 5 in feilding % and dead last out of 10 in range. It would be a crime to see him win.

Morneau was leading the league in 2 out rbi's which is a sign of hitting in the clutch for your team. Dye offensive numbers look awfull good but he also has a more offensive team so they should be. Morneau won't get the votes but he is definitely deserving.

Northern Star - Jeter is having the best year of his career. He has kept the Yankees going, through all the injuries and stepped up big in their biggest series of the year. I think he has caught Mauer in BA also. This will be too close to call as the AL Central has a lot of ball left.

Only locks are Santana and Howard. I would give NL CY to Webb. Only pitcher who has done it the whole year.

Jeter might be having the best year of his career but he doesnt have mvp stats compared to other guys.

Just comparing him to Morneau:

Jeter .345 ba, 13 home runs, 91 rbi, 36 doubles and his feilding numbers at ss nothing spectacular.

Morneau .320 ba, 33 home runs, 118 rbi, 31 doubles, his feilding is nothing spectacular, most errors of first basemen with 7 but also has the most assists with 104.

Morneau has carried the twins at times and leads the league in two out rbi's.

Sorry the numbers are not even close. Its about the most valuable player, not how long you have been in the league or what team you play for.

Santana already won AL Cy Young

AL MVP: Justin Morneau (so I have a little Twinkie bias)
The AL MVP vote is going to be very interesting. The player that lands in the top 3 on everyones' ballots will win, that will probably be Jeter because he's in NY. Morneau, Jeter, Ortiz, Dye are all going to get some first place votes.

NL Cy Young: Carpenter

NL MVP: Howard

heard on tv the other day, Twins have won 22 straight games at Metrodome that Johan has started....He is 15-0 during that time period. They haven't lost since Aug of last year. That's amazing. Even as $200+ chalk this guy is money. Twins have won 21 of his last 22 starts.
