Defense's were dominant in NFL week 1

I don't have the numbers but I am pretty sure only 1-2 game combined to score 40 pts or more. Seems like defense are way ahead, maybe QB play kind of shoddy around league, teams copying Steeler style (hard nose football), not really sure.

uppy: ) the new coaching staff is trying to change the culture with a tough hard hitting defensive style. Looks like that is the thought process around the league.

Yep, overall defenses were superior this first week, think there was 4 overs? Seems to me QB's as a whole are weak, lot of guys starting right now seem to be very average talent wise. Just the fact someone signed Jeff George at all speaks volumes. Beginning to remind me of starting pitching in baseball.

As for the Lions, Marinelli came from Tampa, I'd be very surprised if that defense doesn't play better all year long.

Not just that but it can also be the fact that so many new NFL head coaches, installing their systems, or bringing in their personnel like offensive coordinators. Harder to run efficient offense then defense.

QB play is questionable on a lot of teams. Agreed.

sad commentary on nfl when Andrew Walter is some teams future. These 6'5 240 lb types are not athletic enough to make a play. I dont give defense credit, its the mentality of nfl scouts, coaching and gen managing. NFL now regressing like NBA. A joke that Rechee Caldwell is in the NFL. A joke that Drew Bledsoe is allowed to posion to 5 diffrent NFL teams.
