I went to war with this team last Thursday and Friday. Johnson let me down Thursday blowing a 3-0 lead and Olsen decided to pitch to Ryan Howard and got beat on Friday. Well, wouldn't you know it. They have now won 3 in a row behind Moehler, Willis and Sanchez. Now they are back to Johnson. I will give him another shot and for good reason. He has faced the Mets twice this year and is 2-0 with a perfect 12 shutout innings. He has allowed 3 unearned runs and only 4 hits striking out 13. I don't see him losing 2 in a row and most certainly I don't see him losing to Perez. I know the Mets lefty comes off that shutout against the Braves but the Marlins are on fire. I caught a break last Thursday and Friday but that happens sometimes. Nothing you can do about that. This Marlins team is 17-5 since August 20th and it was just bad luck I had 2 of those 5 losses. Well, my bad luck is over. Johnson steps up, Marlins stay hot and we get ourselves another 30 Dime Winner. Marlins are the play.
Astros
I have been impressed with Andy Pettitte lately. The tired arm the Yankees said he had when they released him has put up a staff leading 193 innings. If he is tired it sure isn't showing. Over his last 4 starts, he is 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA. Even more impressive is 3 of those starts have come on the road. Weaver seems to have found a rthymn with the Cards but not at home. He is 0-3 with a 6.43 ERA in front of the home fans. I look for the Astros to get a much needed win to stay alive in this wild card race. They are only 4 1/2 game back of the wild card and 6 games back of the Cards. They can get hot and make up some ground starting tonight. Pettitte is just the guy to do it. Astros are the play
Brewers
Call it tough luck for Capuano. He has pitched his butt off in the 2nd half but has nothing to show for it but that is what happens when your team only gets you an average of 2.73 runs a game in the 2nd half. That will change tonight as the Brewers crush Chacon. Chacon is 1-2 for the Pirates with an ERA over 6 and he is 1-1 with an ERA of 4.61 in 5 appearances against the Brewers. His last start versus the Cubs will be the exact performance he will put up tonight. Chicago got him for 5 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings including 3 homers. This is a bust out game for the Brewers and a much needed win for Capuano. I am on the Brewers tonight.
