Damn that is impressive. Remember when sweet Lou would give the Yanx fits. You can sure tell he is gone. Looking more and more like another subway series. Just does not look like anyone has the horses to knockout the Yanx this year. Who knows, they may all meltdown postseason like ARod, but that lineup is scary with Matsui coming back and Bobby cominh aboard. Answer me this Hoss, do the Yanx have a weakness this season?

Another chance for Pedro to get blown up by the Yanks.

Yanks staff could still be the problem in October....that lineup though is pretty scary even for them.

BTW, anyone know what the MLB record is for most RBI by a player in an inning? Has to be 8.

Hey Rob, they still have Pedro resting on the IR? Glavine could also implode from numbness and chills. The Mets can be beaten, they do have some weaknesses. But the Yanx are going to get to the big show this year. I think the Tigers are slumping at the wrong time. The Twinkies have the arms but lack bats. The pale hose arms are dead from overuse. A's always lose to Yanx post season or not. I passed on a 2-1 dog tonight with Royals because last time I bet this matchup I had one of the worst losses in my career. A blown 10-1 lead and 4 run lead top of 9th. That was demoralizing. Still, I think subway series is going to be big favorite.

Yes, that 8 in an inning should stand forever. No one gets up to bat a 3rd time in an inning. Maybe in the late 1800's but not in modern ball. Even batting around is getting rare. But I have to admit this season a lot of managers have just left a starter in there that is getting creamed, especially LaRussa.

As far as the Yanx arms, they look way better than previous years. The big unit is actually pitching better, Moose is there, Lidle was a nice addition. They got rid of the stiffs and still have Mariano. All you need is three quality starters and a closer in the playoffs. Last year Rastros prime example of that. They had close to no offense and still made the series. Even Lidge became an afterthought. I really think Philly gave up on the season too early and gave the Yanx two critical missing pieces, hungry quality players. Ozzie proved you barely need a pen, especially middle relief. The second season is a much different game. Every game is vital and no one takes a play off. I still think they should pare down regular season to 120 games, but old stodgy baseball people wnat the extra income.

CORRECT!!
Hard Hittin...Mark Whiten. He also holds record for RBIs in a double header as he hit HR #5 on the day in the 2nd game against Cincinnatti.

Jim Bottomley also knocked in 12 in a game in 1924...

Whiten also had a cannon for an arm in right field and could run a little. Had all the tools, just didnt have the instinct.

one of the strongest i've ever witnessed...absolute cannon of an arm. He pitched 1 inning in his career. 1 hit, 1 run, 2 BBs, 1 hit batter and 3 Ks.
