10 DIME
Baltimore Orioles - Please Specify Your Pitchers - Wakefield vs. Bedard
Philadelphia Phillies (Gm.1) - Please Specify Your Pitchers -Wolf vs Davies
Tigers
Big win last night for the Tigers. With the Twins 1 1/2 games and the White Sox 4 1/2 back, Detroit can't afford to blink. They didn't last night with the walk off homer from Guillen and they won't tonight with Verlander. His last start at Minnesota he was on fire. He went 8 innings allowing just 1 run in a 7-2 win. He has allowed 1 run over his last two starts spanning 14 innings. His arm has come back to life and he will own the Rangers here. Millwood will be no match for Verlander of the Tigers tonight. I am laying it with the better team at home with much more at stake. Tigers are my play.
Orioles
After being lights out for most of the season, Eric Bedard went into his last start struggling. He had been winless in his last 7 starts until he shut down the Yankees to the tune of 2 runs in a 9-4 win. He will comeback strong again against the Red Sox. Wakefield making his 2nd start off the no decision against Kansas City, won't win here. Red Sox season is over and they just want the nightmare to end. I am on Bedard and the O's tonight.
Phillies
Now that they know they are not going to the post season for the first time in 15 years, the Braves will play like a team beaten. On the other hand, the Philllies are right there. They are 2 games behind the Padres in the wild card and they can't afford to Davies is 2-5 on the year with a 7.56 ERA and is coming off 6 runs in 5 innings versus the Mets. I like Wolf in this spot tonight. He is 3-0 with a 4.97 ERA this year. You add the fact Davies is 0-3 with an ERA of 19.64 in 3 career starts versus the Phillies and you can see who the play is here. Phillies roll.
