HAS to be Matt Cain...

like I said. if he gained better control and threw strikes at a more consistent pace he would be the Giants ace by next year...if not by THIS season.

I came out of hybernation last week and posted my play on him as 'even' money at home against Peavy saying that was the last time you are going to see that much value with him for awhile.

The linesmakers have really adjusted by making him a -178 against Colorado tomorrow.

His past 5 starts he is 4-0, 0.26 ERA

Another pitcher that comes to mind is Rich Hill...he has become the ace of the Cubs rotation (w/ Zambrano out) and has really began to trust his stuff.

I'm sure 60% of bettors see 'R.Hill' as the Cubs probable starter and think "who the hell is that, better fade him"..and his season stats are below average so those that do check those out won't know any better either.

any other 'under-rated' pitchers out there? any comments on the 2 I mentioned?

Bedard. Too bad he's been with a lousy team.

Yeah...too bad following him hasn't really made me any money. I snagged him in fantasy baseball though, which is golden because I dont have to bank on Kevin Millar to get a clutch 2 out hit with runners in scoring pos.

i agree though, he is filthy. helps having Leo Maz. teach you the art of hitting the corners and changes speeds...

I also think Leo Maz. is what Daniel Cabrera needs to get his act together...and we may need to keep an eye on him being a stud SOON...:103631605

Peavy=Nasty
SD could be tough in the playoffs.

i'm pretty sure the consensus is that Peavy is GOOD...he isnt overlooked IMO.

the Padres are horrible and I would LOVE to face them in the playoffs if i'm any other team.

Florida would be the 'scary' team because every other team is SUPPOSE to beat them and I'm sure they would play loose with nothing to lose...that is scary IMO.

Cain is now premium priced so the party is over there. Sanchez was also good til he threw the no no. These guys still can win, but you are getting that adjusted line. I rode Bedard, 3 FLA arms, even that former bumb Loaiza, who turned into a stud? Some guys have lively arms end of season, some tail off. What about the reverse angle on this?

tell me about it!!! i was happy for him...but now he doesnt have as much value...

you mentioned the reverse angle...

I felt Josh Beckett would struggle in the AL...(check my post BEFORE the year started) and he has, yet his price tag is always way too high.

Now Cain is -2.00 for the most part. You get 2-3 plays on these unknown or underrated angles then the entire world knows about it. Might be some heavy winds blowing out today. Plus SF has been giving up a ton of runs, also the pen has been brutally bad. I'll watch this one close, early start day game also.

John Maine :money8:

Maine is overrated. Last three years at triple A he's 14-23 with an era just above 4. He caught fire early on but he's not a top of the rotation guy imo.

Cain really fits the bill but it won't last much longer. Hill is another good name, ripped up triple A this year but didn't get any attention after a series of rocky starts following his call up.

Agree on Rich Hill, he is getting better by the start. Have made some money betting De la Rosa (KC) at huge ++ odds this year. Not that that makes him a good pitcher, but I would call him a good value pitcher since the break.

Cole Hamels and Lowry

Lowry is overrated if anything. Not half the pitcher Cain is.

He will be a decent #3 starter but never anything more than that. His stuff is not that good.

As a lifelong Giant fan and season ticket holder, I wish he could pitch with more consistency.

Cain is unhittable. He always has been. The only time he runs into trouble is when he is walking hitters (which happened too frequently early in the season). He is a big time pitcher.

If the Giants can resign Schmidt, he and Cain will be a nice 1/2 punch for the staff.

Cla Meredith. Kevin Towers stole him and Josh Bard from the Sox for Doug Mirabelli. THanks, Theo. Cla has a 33 inning scoreless streak out of the pen (not easy to do)
