Has anyone ever caught a MLB game ball during the game?

If so how many times..I use to get balls all the time, but all were during BP, we use to go to the Orioles games way early, we'd sitr down by the right field line past the tarp and if you were in the front row you have a great chance for one two maybe even three balls during BP.

Never have I caught a game ball though...you see some of these fans just sticking a bare hand up on a 420 towering fly to the bleachers and some even catch the ball, I have never quite understood the mentality there.

I was tossed one after a game in Tampa by Dante Bichette, after he signed it. Pretty sure he knew it was his last game for the Sox.

I was in the front row at a Jays game and caught a warmup throw between innings. Actually it caught me right in the chest. Shannon Stewart never could throw.

Caught a bullpen ball at fenway. Some pitcher threw a crappy warm up pitch, hit the ground, bounced up and I caught it.

I have caught 3 and guests that have come with me have caught 2.

Crazy story:

I caught 1 and my friend caught 1 in the same inning. We left right after the 2nd one was caught to go grab some beer and go to the bathroom while the inning was still in progress. We came back and everyone was laughing and told us ANOTHER ball hit our seats while we were gone in that same inning. :missingte

We have had probably 25+ balls given to us in pregame from players as well.

I caught one in the early 70's. It was at a Cubs games. The batter was Roger Metzger for Houston Astros (2nd game of a Double Header) I'll never forget it. It was my first and only one, I still have it. :dancefool

I also got many balls during batting practice, but actually caught a game ball of Terrance Long when he was with the A's at Royals Stadium.

yep, dodger stadium, bullet foul ball off someone else hand and caught me right in the jaw. Dodgers lost that day.

Still have the 1979 WS ball...would have had two had Orioles coach Jim Frey not made me give it back...I've had that ball for 27 years now and it feels like yesterday.

We were down on the field well before the game,while the pitchers were taking BP people were scarfing up those WS stamped balls right and left...

I also got Lee May's bat but have since lost it....I grabbed a second ball and Frey told me to put it back....that same day I got Frank and Brooks Robinson, Stargell and Parker all signed on one ball...I still have that ball.

Caught quite a few many, many years ago.

Fastballs. sliders, curves, sinkers even a some knuckleballs but only in a few spring training games. No regular season games damn it.

Caught many over the years, including two in one Chisox-Angel game. Floyd Robinson hit one of them. Always tried to get the hitter of the ball, to autograph it in the sweet spot, after the game, if I could. Have not got any lately.

Ex-Mod McIrish got tix to Trop for Fish and I. We had no one around us and back to back foul balls rolled right to us. I think McIrish picked both up and gave them to some kid. We didnt even have to move. Very surreal.
