the US team is far inferior if you look at the names on each side.

US has players like Vaughn Taylor, JJ henry, Zach Johnson, BRett Wetteriech. And their alternates are verplank and cink. Not exactly all world players.

The european team seems to be loaded with big names. However, the US has done poorly in the recent past with teams that had big name players who choked. So i hope the new younger no-name type players will be more motivated to win this thing.

with that being said i will have money on every match dimarco is involved with. I hope they team him up with chad campbell because i think that duo would sweep through any team.

yes, dimarco/campbell would be solid, also think woods/furyk will be $ if lehman goes that way, usa has to attone for the pitiful performance 2 years ago...

weather

I am posting this from just across the Irish Sea in Cumbria. It is currently sunny but there have been heavy showers. The wind is strong and gusty with no shortage of white horses out there in the sea.

This in my view favours Europe if it keeps up.

The tables are turned from in the past when Europe had a few great players (Faldo, Seve, Langer, Olazabol) and the US was deep. Now Europe is much deeper, but the top players are from the US (Woods, Furyk Mickleson, Toms). The key for a US victory will be to do what the Euros used to do.....leave the rookies and lower level players on the bench orlimit them to 1 match on days 1 & 2. Keep Furyk & Woods and Mickleson & Dimarco together for all 4 Friday & Saturday matches and see if you can't get 6 out of 8 points from those guys. Snag a point or two from the other matches and then go into Sunday with a lead. Will lehman have the guts to sit Taylor, Henry & Wetterich????? That is the question for me.

I have Europe at - 112 but that is three way betting. What price you get for taking Europe without the draw Santo ? Was it much more expensive ?

FWIW, I think Europe wins as well. They have dominated recently and are even stronger this year. Very fair price as well but this is one event where I root with my heart. Make money or root for the home team. :icon_conf

They will break your heart, dont let them lighten your wallet too. The $500 you win on Europe will help you over the disappointment of your yanks getting waxed.

WOW, everyone is on the euro's, can't say i blame ya, but i'm a homer and i think woods really steps up this time... guess i should wait as long as possible to make a wager because if this forum is any indication the line has got to keep leaning in the euro's favor... can't wait till friday

weather update

The wind is stronger today - Force 3 or 4 would be my guess or 20 to 20 mph, gusting higher. Driving rain too. If the event was to start today I would pile into Europe, high towering irons from the likes of Mickelson get destroyed in a wind like this.

Currently the forecast is for this wind to moderate though.

It seems anything can happen in matchplay. I would bet against the Americans.
