You’re Fired!!!! The Greek Sportsbook Offers Betting on Larry Coker’s Coaching Future<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Greek Sportsbook offers betting odds on the future of embattledf <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />University of Miami head coach Larry Coker..

Montego Bay, Jamaica (PR WEB) – The Greek Sportsbook (http://www.thegreek.com) a leader in online sports betting, released odds on whether Larry Coker football coach for the Miami Hurricanes would be fired before the end of the football season.

The proposition is based on whether or not Coker is fired or resigns by 11:00 am central time on December 4, 2006. Currently the Yes he will be fired or resigns is the -150 favorite and the No he survives is +120.

Coker finds himself in a tough situation as his team has dropped 2 of their last 3 games to start the 2006 season and 4 of their last 6 games.

Coker, in his sixth year as head coach of the Canes, took over as head football coach after Butch Davis left the Canes for the NFL. Coker then lead Miami to 4 straight BCS games including the title games in 2001 and 2002 and won the National Championship in 2001. Coker also won the prestigious Paul “Bear” Bryant Award in 2001 and was named National Coach of the Year by several organizations.

An impressive 54-11 overall record in his head coaching career is not the problem but apparently boosters are not happy with the teams past two 9-3 seasons, the first two season for Miami in the ACC.
Problems have been mounting for Coker since last season that culminated in an embarrassing bowl game loss. Coker then made wholesale changes to his staff after last season. The once powerful Miami offense has been lacking the past two seasons. This past weekend the Canes allowed 31 unanswered points to Louisville on Saturday in what some consider a horrible loss.

Sports talk radio in Miami and internet chat boards swirled with reports that Coker was in a Sunday morning meeting with athletic director Paul Dee and university trustees to discuss the coach’s job status.

University media tried to dispel those rumors. “I’m not really considered about job security” Coker said “I’m not concerned about that at all. I’m concerned about getting our football team back to where it needs to be and winning football games. If we do that, job security takes care of itself.
