After more than 20 years in the game and all the stats and superstitions, the highs and the lows...From the days of good all parlay cards for $5 to the evolution of sports lotteries and online bookies...I have come to the conclusion that to be successful in this game: YOU MUST have discipline.
There are plenty of good cappers here at The Rx and at the same time, there are plenty of newbies to the game that are making life changing mistakes....I felt the need to write this thread because of all the recent posts of "GAME OF THE YEAR"...."MY LARGEST BET EVER"...etc., etc., etc...I truly feel bad for these guys, but at the same time I was probably there too in my day.

So in conclusion, to be successful;

1) Have DISCIPLINE
2) Know Money Management
3) Read some posts from The Vets

AND TO MAKE SOME REAL CASH

go against these posters...with Locks, and my largest bet this year and BLAH BLAH BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Just my 2 cents

peace

You also have to be less naive. A lot of these posters who are craving attention do not even gamble or possess the money that they say are wagering on this site. Just weed the losers out and carry on with your business. Not only do you need discipline, but you also need a bankroll. Sure, you can get lucky and build it up, but 90 percent of the time you're going to lose it all again claiming it was house money. Discipline and a bankroll are the ways to go.

Here, you'll see the the guy claiming to wager 2-3 dimes a game be worried about a 4-team $50 parlay and asking for advice about hedging.

I always assumed most people were lying about what they wagered. You have way too many people claiming they put $20,000 on a game. I don't see what the deal is with lying. I'll admit in a heartbeat that I'm a small time bettor. The middle of last NBA season I built up a bankroll that I was making up to $200 bets and that was alot to me. I have built up dicipline I feel that I have that. The bankroll part, that is yet to arrive. ;)
