With the METS already clinching and the Yankees 1 game from clinching, a (SUBWAY) series is looking better and better. Although I believe the METS will be in the World Series the Yankees pitching worries me for their chances.

If there is a subway series, I hope it is not as lame as the last one.

Nice pic of bubbly.

I don't understand. Vs AL East 65% winning percentage, vs AL Central 66%. Maybe if they played in the west, they wouldn't make it.

The american league east has the worst record against the west or central. The west is in the middle and the central has the best record against the other divisions. It means the central is the strongest, the west is second strongest and the east is the weakest. The teams play a schedule weighted towards their division and those games will always have a winner and a loser. Outside of their division is a representation of the strength of the division. The east is the least.

This has got to be one of the stupidest arguements I've seen in a long time. Who cares what the other teams in their division are doing against other teams. I can argue that the Yankees would easily have won 5 of the 6 divisions in baseball, and they have more than shown they can handle AL Central teams as well.

Heck, if they played in the NL, they would have clinched a playoff spot about a month ago.

I guess this makes up for every other year. When was the last time the AL wild card came out of the Central division. Has it ever?

I guess you would consider facts stupid, what else could I expect from a Yankee fan. So do you think if any team played more games against better teams they would win the same number of games? I don't think so.

I hate the Yankees, its like the season is complete once they are knocked out, with their $200 million dollar payroll.

I suppose you think Jeter should be the MVP when his statistics are probably barely in the top 5? Ortiz, Morneau, Dye, Sanatana.

Yo Northern Star ...

Gimme' a break with the constant "Letterman Top 10 Excuses" of why the Yankees always make the Post-Season.

It seem's that your Cryin' a River more then that Timberlake kid ...when speaking of the Bronx Bombers.

Just admit it ...they've dominated their Division this decade. It's that simple.

With a $200 million payroll were you expecting to not win the division or not make the playoffs?

The season will be complete once they lose. It's just too bad Boston isn't in the playoffs to beat the Yankees, let them get up 3-0 in the series, one pitch away from going to the world series. Oh thats probably a bad memory for Yankee fans, one of the greatest chokes in baseball history. When you win the division with a payroll in the middle of the pack I will give the Yankees kudos until then you really have nothing to brag about.

Don't be jelaous of yankees. The yankees do spend money but they usually spend it wisely. Look at teams like the Knicks they spend a ton of money but are in a big mess. The Red Sox do spend money also its not like they have a 20 million dollar pay roll. The Yankees are in a situation they can make enough money to cover thier payroll. George is not afraid to spend money and the yankees still make money every year.
There are a lot of owners that won't spend money because they care more about profit. We are lucky we have George he will go out and spend money. I think the owner of your Twins team is the richest owner in baseball but he doesn't want to spend the money.

I agree te knicks have wasted their money, the difference is everyone has the same amount of money, now it becomes how you spend your money to put your team together. A great example is the New England Patriots, a team without real superstars other than Brady. They have a deeper roster at most positions. I am glad the Vikings got rid of Moss and Culpepper. They can use that money to get a balance alittle more like New England which I think is what you need with the salary cap to win championships. NFL, NBA and Hockey all have this figured out. All the teams get the same amount. Because of this you will see different teams win championships and make the playoffs. It is about having a well run organization not about how much you can spend.

I have said this before if Bill Gates decided to buy the Seattle Mariners and just said whatever free agent I want, I will sign him to twice what anyone else is willing to pay and I am going to win the world series. He puts a team of allstars together and wins 140 games and the world series every year. Would this be good for baseball? No. The Yankees start every year by trying to buy the division. Their payroll is 40% more than the nearest competitor. They have a payroll 3 times as large as the Twins for example. The american way is to root for the underdog, oh thats why canadien sal doesn't get it.

I agree with most of what you said but the Yankees would be different from the Bill Gates owner Mariners like you said. The Yankees do go out and get free agents but the Main core of that team doesn't come from free agents. Jeter, Posada, Bernie, Rivera, Cano, Wang, Proctor and the others I left off are home grown talent. They were not free agents that the yankees just paid top dollar they came up through their system and developed them. We have seen free agents won't do it, they will get you wins during the season but to win a ship you need a team. If the Yankees didn't have a big budget they could probably get players to take less money but that is not a problem for them because they are a business that puts the profits back in.

The Yankees magic number was about 1 when the season began!

Next years magic number should be calculated right now since of course they will win the division again

How does me being Canadian, have any relevance on this topic? :think2:

I'm a die-hard Chicago Blackhawk's fan..so now, I presume ya think I "get it"?

I'm also a die-hard New York Giants fan .. Now do I classify as "getting it"?

How many years without a Championship is that, between the 2 team's mentioned above? ...60 ???

Stop with the sorry-ass excuses already.

The Yankees battled through injuries all season long, and still came out on top.

Learn to give credit ... when it is due.
