Was listening to a nationwide sports radio program on the way home from work and the weekly feature were they took to a bookmaker type from the Mirage. He said that they are getting killed on Chicago Bears bets. He said that for every 1 Minnestoa play on a parlay that they are getting Chicago 50 times.

He also said that Chicago and Cincinatti have become the 2 public favorites so far this year. They are also very heavy on the 2 favorites (New England and Atlanta) for Sunday and Monday nite football games.

the point is the spread is suppose to get close to 50-50 action and the number is suppose to make it an even game. 50 to 1 means that others are not seeing it this way.

Just found it very interesting.

Having worked in the LV sportsbook industry for 9+ years it was always an observation of mine that whenever a team garnished a percentage on parlays of 75+% or more they would not cover 55-60% of the time.

Just an observation and have no opinion on this CHI-MINN affair.

my thoughts exactly. They have proved me wrong for over a year but still don't put them in the UPPER echelon of teams in the league.

1. Can the BILLS go to 2-1 and present themselves as a playoff contender?

2. CIN-PITT.........what a battle this should be.

3. Can Dallas Clark lead the Colts past the up and coming JAGS?

4. The BEARS/VIKINGS battle for the NFC NORRIS lead.

5. The LIONS/PACKERS meet, with the loser going home 0-3.

6. Will the BUCS or PANTHERS go to 0-3?

WHAT AN EARLY AFTERNOON of DRAMA!

Currently at Wagerline it appears the RAVENS and the BEARS are getting the most backing.

thru the years it seems like most of the guys I know (very square) love road favorites. Just getting that better team at such a small price is just to enticing to them. I can almost guy a handful of guys best 3 nets or so each week in NFL. Road favorites will lead you to the poor house quick:pucking:

ICE, are you a LIONS fan?

If so, what do you think about them laying -7 points?

I love the Lions more than any team (college or pro) and any sport for that matter. I think this number is based more on how bad the public percieves the Packers than anything to do with the Lions. In fact if things don't change fast I am not sure the Pack will be favored in any game this year. To be that big of a dog to a team that has had the worst record in football the past 5 years really tells you how low people feel about them (Packers).

One good thing for the Lions is there is huge sense of desperation from this orgainzation right now and that could give them a little extra this week. This is a game they should win (esp at home) and they know it. Of all the years I have followed this team this is the least I have feel wise for them. With the new QB and coaches (don't forget Martz is calling the plays and he is known as a miracle worker) everyone is waiting for them to show something (preseason was VERY dull).

I think they should win but there is NO way I would lay -7. Just way too many unanswered questions right now. I cannot stress enough how they are getting blasted in the media right now around here (esp Williams guarantee last week) and you would think the whole orgainztion realizies how important it is to them to beat this lowly Packers team. If they lose it could really ugly around here. You would think they know the importance of playing well. wWth that said I wouldn't bet against them. How about take them in a teaser picking up the 3 and 7. I would be stunned if they lost this game (but as a Lion fan I have been stunned my whole life).
