For the life of me i can't understand why he gets booed at home alot. All the kid does is win, He leads the nations in Td's and his own fans boo him.Do they really think Tebow could win big games for them? Granted he is a nice change when they need a run but gator fans are kidding themselves if they think Leak is not the best Qb on the team....He is the best college qb in the state of Florida (see State or Miami)..
Hell, i am not even a Gator fan but give the kid a break.

I dont understand that either.Leak is going to get the majprity of the snaps and if he is going to hear boos then it will not make him play better if anything it will get in his head and cause him to press things.

That was a situation that some fans wanted Tebow to stay in the game and finish a drive. Tebow had driven the team to inside the 10 yard line and was replaced by Leak. That was NOT directed to Chris Leak. It was directed to the coaching staff. The Gator Nation is behing Chris Leak 100%. LT:103631605

Hard to believe the QB of the #5 team in the country and one that is leading the nation in TD passes could be had at 30-1 or higher in Heisman props at various offshore shops.

What you are saying is what I was thinking at first. The announcers kept making a big deal about the boos so I thought it might have happened in another game also.Whats the guy with Blackledge? He brought up booing 3-4 times trying to make it sound like a big deal.I am glad you clarified as that makes sense.
Tebow is a Stud.Alabama spent a lot of time recruiting him.I never thought he would go anywhere but Florida.

Fans get excited about big time recruits and always want to see them play. They don't understand that a veteran QB that has been in the offense for years gives the team the best chance to win.

See: Chris Simms over Major Applewhite (Texas)
See: DJ Shockley splitting time with David Greene (Georgia)

The problem is that Meyer went out of his way to recruit Tebow. He put Tebow on the Leadership Council (something that before then was always for juniors or senious) and hyped him up to everyone in Gator Nation. He called Tebow his "dream quarterback" and that got Gator fans really excited. Not to mention the kid was a STUD at Nease and the Florida Times Union had a mid-page story on him virtually every week. It has been a while since a Jacksonville-area school produced a great football player (the last really was Leroy Butler........Dez White, Frank Murphy, Lamar Lewis, Leon Washington, Ciatrick Fason haven't done or won't do anything in the pros).

Also....let's be honest here. There is still TONS of racism in the South. And I think a small part of it has to do with the fact that Leak is black and Tebow is white.

It wasn't just the once either.....I remember hearing last year from Gator fans how excited they were to bring in Tebow (he enrolled last spring semester I believe) so they could get rid of the "stiff" Leak. I love Chris Leak he throws the prettiest spiral in all of College Football, but most fans didn't understand that a complex system like Meyer's would take at least a year for him to understand and turned on him to a degree.

The first time Leak looks bad in a game or the Gators lose you will hear it. If they lose to UGA in Jax, then you REALLY will hear it.

Leak is a good QB but I feel he is not the QB needed in Urban Meyers system. Urban Meyer has changed his offense some to fit Chris Leak.

There is no doubt Chris Leak throws a nice pass and is accurate. I think it is very easy to defense him though--obviously you need a decent defense to start but you put some pressure on him. He is a sitting duck basically and can be forced into a lot of silly TOs and bad decisions. His lack of mobility hurts especially in Urban Meyers revised system.

Leak is the best QB on the team this year. There is no doubt about that. However I think Leak and Tebow complement each other very well. I am not a big fan of rotating QBs but I think it could work in this situation. The Gators are setting up Tebow to pass the ball down the field. Once these great D's like LSU and Auburn see Tebow in, they will pack the line for the run and BAMMM. You will see Tebow's arm which is pretty damn good. The Gators have been practicing this all year and it is coming at the right time.

The boos you heard last night were exactly what Coach LT said. People wanted Tebow to finish the drive. He did all this work to get into the redzone and they take him out and Leak comes in and forces a pass that gets picked.

Some great comments.

I have been a huge Chris Leak fan and he doesn't quite fit in the current system.

Can't believe he is not getting any run for the Heisman and can be head at great odds but is "dead" on the board. Also Tebow is getting more snaps.

Florida is a good team that plays big games the rest of the way out. If they navigate through this schedule -which is a big if-- he should be right there.

Leak not booed. Coaches were?

Look I was at the game, in the same seat I've been sitting in for five years with many patrons even I would consider "rednecks". None of the "booes" came from our section, however we all considered the replacement of Tibow unjust. Right now Tibow is very much like a RB instead of a QB.

Up until the booing, Tibow was under center for three plays. In those three plays he ran for 64 yards with a personal foul that put UF 1st and goal on the 6 or 7.

Would Dye have yanked Bo Jackson's backup after such a stretch? Would Dooley have yanked Walker's backup in such a cituation? Would all the "student body rights" to Simpon's and Allen's backups warrented replacement?

No.

I am not saying that the booes were justified. In fact at the time that it happened the only thing that I could think of was why are you traking him out? He's hot. Let him finish the drive. Then when the booes came down all that I and the people around me could say was "No" (about the booes) Chris (and the media as it turns out) is going to think the fans were booing him as he trotted on to the field.

By the way did you hear the cheers for Chris Leak as he replaced Tibow midway through the fourth quarter. That was primarily from the "old" gator nation, the ones that didn't boo. Us old "racist" southerners sitting in the west stands. We were the ones trying to let Chris know that our sentiments were true towards him. The QB has taken us so far and will continue to take us as far as we can go.

Hines, you and the rest of the FSU nation remind me of the kid that whistle's as he passes the graveyard in the middle of the night. The Bogeyman, aka, Tim Tebow will be showing you guys his stuff for the next 4 years. Do NOT fire Bob-Jimmy Swaggert-Bowden or his son Jeffie. :lolBIG: :puppy: LT

Coach, I really like Tebow.........think he can definitely lead the Gators to a national title during his stay at UF. Actually, I might be going to UF for grad school so my loyalties would change in that instance............

Look Tebow was a can't miss kid coming out of high school. A Florida product who not only goes on mission trips to the Phillipines during the summer but can play some damn football. With all the media hype about him last summer and the ESPN documentary they had on him (when was the last high school player who had his own documentary? Exactly), a lot is expected of Tebow.

When he does come in you see he brings a different style of quarterback into the game. He's not ready to be slinging the ball around but he'll run the ball and dive head first. No sliding shit from him. He constantly rushes for yards and moves the chains. He gets a first down and jumps up to pump up the crowd. They love that enthusiasm. Meyer cannot sit this kid on the sideline and just have him hold a clipboard. He's getting him reps. Getting him experience. Tebow is a much better fit for the offense no doubt but he'll have three years to be the man.

Again the booing has gotten blown out of proportion. As stated, the fans were booing that Tebow led that drive all the way to scoring position and then he was replaced with leak. Of course fans wanted to see him finish it. BUT when a running back helps his team reach the goal line and then gets replaced with a goal line back...does he get booed??? No. You rarely hear that. So the fans shouldn't have booed. I hope Chris doesn't take it too personally because he's having a phenomenal year so far. So much more comfortable in the offense and there's no room for distractions with the brutal schedule of Ala-LSU-Aub-Georgia coming up.

If somehow the Gators come out of that 4-0, Leak has to be considered for the Heismann.

And yes I'm a Gator grad.

Leak's stats won't look as impressive after he faces that murderer's row they got coming up on their schedule. And if he plays great vs. those defense, everyone will have to consider him as a legit Heisman candidate.
