The Atlanta Braves run has just ended. 14 straight division titles and a World Series championship.

What a great run it was. I forgot what its like to watch the playoffs without my team being a part of the postseason. Its going to be a strange feeling.

My prediction that I made over 10 years ago came 100% to pass.

I said that the day that one of the 3 people in what I call the Braves success triangle leaves, that will be the year that the great run ends.

That triangle is John Schuerholz, Bobby Cox, and Leo Mazzone. Mazzone left the team and the run ended. You cant help but wonder if the things would have went differently if he would not have left.

Things the Braves need to do to get back into contention:

I dont think they are that far off. Part of the reason is because the NL sucks. The Mets are very old. How much longer can Glavine and Pedro pitch effectively?

The Braves have alot of studs down on the farm.

I think its time for Time Warner to sell the team. I miss the good ole days of Ted Turner.

Indeed. Pretty sad to see them go and I too will be a little confused with what to do with no Braves in the playoffs.

Curious about what you think will happen in the off season? Giles will obviously go, I wouldn't be surprised to see LaRoche go either. Chipper's going to have to move to first eventually and LaRoche just had a monster season and his trade value will be extremely high. Any thoughts?

I dont think LaRoche is going anywhere. Cheap contract. I will buy Giles ticket out of town if they let me. This would have been a great time to give Betiment a full time job if they would have kept him. Move Chipper to 1st, trade LaRoche, and Wilson to 3rd. Or they could have kept LaRoche, got rid of Giles, and moved Betiment to 2nd.

A couple of strange moves during the trade deadline. I liked the Wickman trade, but hated the Dodgers trade.

I hope Hampton can come back next season and give us some wins.

A very remarkable run

Why did Turner sell the team to begin with?

It happened when he merged with AOL/TIME WARNER

this is hard for me to say but, Chop when do you want your winnings?

I haven't forgot about you but would like to see it go official, if you don't mind. Never thought I would actually root for Ozzie Guillen and I promise you I will NEVER root for him again.

No matter what happens from here on out this baseball season of 2006 will be special to me (even if I have to swallow my pride and pay up a Twins bet that I can't beleive I lost:puppy: ).

I know you have quitely liked the Tigers this summer so I am not offering you another bet but instead I want you to come aboard the Tiger PLAYOFF bandwagon for hopefully a little October run. Will have to make a bet on something next summer as I am sure we will both disagree on something again.

Can't respond back for a couple hours as I have to go back to work. Congrats:suomi: buddy!!!! You truly earned it.

*get my e-mail from Wil and I can send you Neteller or however you want (how about 5 Tiger hats?) it.

By all means, wait till it becomes official. With the luck that I have had this season Chicago is likely to have the greatest comeback im MLB history. LOL.

Im on the Tiger/Twins bandwagon. Either team will do for me. I think Detroit has the slight edge. The Twins needed to win the division to have a chance. Good luck, and lets beat New York!!!! Both of them!!!!!

The Mets will own the NL East now and I really feel bad for the Atlanta fans having to watch their teams choke so many times in the playoffs at least they don't have to see it this season.

choppy, i dont think people have a clue how incredible a run the braves had... maybe one of the greatest feats in the history of sports.. escpecially considering a "NEW YORK" team in their division a Philly team... great run with class people .. except for that damn Otis Nixon!!!!!

Another thing Chop at least in my opinion is the Wickman deal they just made. Not sure how much I like it...granted we needed a solid bullpen arm but is this guy really worth $6 mil?

I mean he pitched 20-some innings for us and those innings were the kind he has never pitched before; it seems to me that this small sample is a pretty flattering representation of his work.

I mean would anyone argue that Smoltz ($8 mil/year) is only 1/3 more valuable to the Braves team than Wickman ($6 mil/year)? I think they got away with highway robbery on the Smoltz deal--granted he's getting old but he still pitches 200 innings/year--and they severely overpaid Wickman, who I could easily see turning into his former self next year.

We'll miss the crowds of 30,000 for their playoff games too.

Unbelievable feat. It's amazing how relatively healthy the core - Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine stayed over most of those 14.
