Hey, I admit it, I'm already in full panic mode when reading this message!

FULL PANIC MODE! FULL PANIC MODE!

Degenerates have been exposed!!!

Panic takes shape in several forms.

Suppose you are Tony Soprano - you're watching the football game when your made guy the bookie captain could not balance the action ... and you have an anixiety attack = panic!

Suppose you are any gambler who decided to bet the Monday Night Football game because you had a lousy weekend ... you're chasing ... you're desparate = panic!

Suppose you are Terril Owens ... and you can't take the pressure of the football buisness anymore ... and you take some pills = panic!

Stress causes people to panic!

It's something you see happen in the stock market & commodity markets all the time.

To think gamblers, who generally are under stress, do not panic more than normal folks, is to deludge oneself. Living in a fantasy world, another sign of a degnerate gambling habit!

:dancefool :nopityA: panic!

Great question: Years ago I would have said not No but hell NO! Today, I have a better understanding of life and just things in general and I worry my ass off about ---you name it---I worry. But it's not about loosing a few dollars on a ball game that in and of itself provides relief from worry. This is not a simple answer for all. We are all individuals and one size won't fit all.

Dante, are you talking about gamblers in general, or yourself?

Succesful gamblers should have a much finer tuned risk assessment ability and be able to accurately weigh up risks they are taking.

If a succesful gambler is worrying about something the chances are it is probably worth worrying about.

In the end though it depends on the individual I suppose. I find alot of people are scared of ANY risk and end up buying insurance for all sorts of minor risks.

Yes. They are use to action or the buzz it provides. In absense of action, when something that causes panic occurs, it accelarates the heart rate, just like when you have a bet on a game and is a natural state for the bettor to be in. None would call it panic, but the effect is the same.

definitely not

Definitely not personally.

The one thing that really gets rammed home to you is the immense variance in life. In my main sport I average 59% but it is not unusual to go 7-0 or 0-7.

So at work when colleagues are panicking about one month's bad sales figures or 3 unsuccessful bids I am the one tending to say "It's too early to say whether this is just a blip or something more meaningful". Ditto when everyone else is going nuts about some successess and starting to beleive in their own publicity.
