I think they could win the pennant if they can catch the cards. They have 3 big pitchers with a lot of experience. In a short series who has a better 123 than the Astros. All three of those pitchers have a ton of playoff experience. Their offenese is not great but has been better but we know pitching and defense wins playoff games. Everyone thinks the Mets will roll to the world series. I really don't see it, their offense is great but they have no pitching espcially if Pedro can't even give sub par stats. Tom Glavine is the only good pitcher they have right now. Orlando has playoff experience but you don't know what you will get from him and Perdo still a big question mark.

You would have to think they would have as good a chance as any NL team...they have the best pitching, period.

in the NL - they very easily could win the pennant

not like they are in the AL where 4 GREAT teams are in the playoffs

the NL is 1 good team and 3 mediocre - whoever those 3 might be

if the astros make the playoffs they are no worse than any of the other 3 and seeing as how they would face NYM - not an unbeatable opponent

Don't forget this team isn't that good offensively. THe other downside is the backend of the rotation.

I do like thier momentum but don't forget how hard it is for them to score runs at times.

Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettite...who has a better 3 starters?

The bullpen has been a nightmare this season but they could easily pitch well in the playoffs. They were one of the strengths of the team last season and it would night surprise me to see them pitch well in the playoffs.

I think that the Padres are the team to watch out for in the NL.....they have a great 1,2 punch with Peavy and Young. Very good bullpen as well. I think that they are going to be dangerous in the weak NL.

Finally someone outside of San Diego with some sense on this issue. The Pads are playing great ball and are confident.
