We all keep score in this by keeping track of money won and lost so in your eyes what would you consider a gambler to have to win in 1 year to be considered a success at this?

I say a success equals 1k a month or 12k a year. A REAL success to me would be 25k a year.

I know some are going to say this isn't fair becasue some players bet more than others so I am just asking what amount WON would open your eyes enough to say that is impressive and well worth the guys time and effort and he is a winning player.

not counting someone you don't know(can't trust 75% of those) but if a buddy says that he spent 10+ hours a week studying the games, reading the forums, etc and then said I have actually made this much money over the past 12 months gambling, what would make you think "wow that is pretty good"?

I agree with the 25k mark

If you live in Mass like me, that is like a 35k job

been watching from a distance (like I always do with your interesting posts). Keep it up:toast: and stay the course as you know I ALWAYS am looking for any edge I can add to my game.

Wouldn't say 1-3k is part time. That would be SOLID to me!!!

This is so true.

Tough game and if you can show a profit you are good to go.

Just think if you could make 1 dollar a year at the racetracks. With the rebates you would be making some good money.

I think it varies with time put into it.
I wouldn't consider $1 successful if you spent ample time in the process. Time is money...

$100K per year for me is the minimum I'd consider someone being succesful at.

Iceman,
Good question. Going back to what we previously discussed. I would say that your $ per hour should be greater than what you could earn elsewhere if you are looking at it purely from a financial standpoint.

I know many poker players that grind out $400-$500 a week profit playing upwards of 80 hours a week and sacrificing any sense of normalcy in their lives and void of social lives. Sure they make around $30,000 a year without a "regular" job, but they would be far from considered a success in my eyes.

Just being on the Plus side is a successs. There are very very few here that are successful players the year round.
