after winning a game? Personally I think it is ridiciulous...

I remember when my Rams won the Superbowl and they interviewed Warner after the game and all he talked about was GOD and was praising God for helping him with the victory..

So answer this, It's ok to thank and praise God when you win, but not ok to blame God for losing?

I would love to see a QB who threw a last minute INT that went the other way to cost his team victory say "I blame God for this loss, I hate God"

I am not against Religion or bashing anyone who worships God, all I am saying is I feel there is double standards here and I strongly believe God's Power has never effected a sporting event.. EVER...

I don't think its ridicolous, they just feel blessed at that point and time, and who better to thank for blessings?

i don't think there is anything wrong with it, players may thank their parents or someone else close to them as well, and that's fine also... it's a free country, and it's not as if they are hurting anyone...

I don't think anything is wrong with it either...it just seems like they're trying to convince themselves how religious they are...why do they have to tell everyone every chance?

God doesnt help a team win, cause if he did that he would be ensuring that the other team loses and screws them.....He doesnt do anything to take away from anyone individual!

It's a joke. Talk about the game already.

They barely mean it when they say "Hi mom!"

So how about the losing team? Can they blame Jesus for losing?
who better to blame than Jesus for losing right?

I think people need to stop praising God when things are good.
Just like I think it is wrong to blame him for when things are bad..

For example I remember when 9-11 happened,I heard some people say "How could God let this happen"

GOD HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9-11,

God gave us the free will to do whatever we want, if we use that free will to be immoral and malicious that is on us not him..

Uhhhh, aren't you that guy that started that thread about Religion being a scam or something to that effect? I'm all for people for having a choice and believe what they want to believe but come on man your statement is a little disingenuous. As my man Chris Berman said "Once is a mistake and twice is a trend"
As I digress, I actually do agree with you in that God doesnt have any bias on who does well or not.

i'm sure most of these athletes don't parade around on the streets or in the locker room all the time proclaiming their faith, but i'm sure they see a national audience after a game a good oppurtunity to say what they obviously feel they should... and most of the time it's very brief...

c'mon rob, i agree that some may not be genuine, but to throw all the athletes into one group and say they don't mean it is ridiculous... i just don't think people should get their panties in a wad over 5 seconds...

maybe the QB that passed him the ball or maybe the coaches who put them in a position to win or maybe their parents for all of their hard work.

Most of them aren't giving thanks for the win. The're not saying thanks to God for givin' us the W. They say things like "just want to say thanks and praise to God for giving me the ability/oppurtunity to play this game."

I have never heard anyone say "God won this game for us." Yeah some are phonies but for a lot of them their faith is the most important thing in their life...as is mine.
