Does this mean that all offshore companies will stop dealing with U.S. customers, or does it mean that if you are a U.S. customer you are taking the chance of getting caught and getting punished into your own hands?

Thanks

Why would the books quit dealing with US customers? It's already illegal for them to take bets. I notice some British book and Euro books booting US people but that's not there main customer base anyways. A lot of books can't afford to do that.

Ever see what the police in Saudi Arabia do to people they catch gambling or drinking?

Same thing, if this bill passes and you are caught gambling, the police will chain your ass to a tree and people will throw stones at you till you die.

other than that, it is biz as usual

Okay but my question is what does it mean for U.S. customers, the fact that they face penalties if caught or also the banks do if caught financing any transactions.

Every book that set up in the Carribean knows they can not take bets legally from the US. They do not care.

The books in England and Europe - well some take US bets and some dont. They are not dumb. They already know they are breaking US law.

If they passed another law that said dealing cocaine is illegal again, do you think coke dealers would stop dealing cocaine?

I'd be really worried. With the torture and habeas corpus bill due to pass they could lock you up forever and torture you.

Woody,
They don't need that bill - they can just call you a terrorist and forbid you from counsil and imprision you indefinately.

Congrats everyone that voted GOP -- looks like you're winning the "war on freedom."

With this administration if you get caught gambling after the bill passes you might end up as part of naked man pyramid in a prison somewhere.

This bill is only about financial transactions and puts the responsibility on the banks and processors.

It has nothing to do with you becoming a criminal.

Stop panicking about going to jail.

The media and the Govt will report in vague terms about how they made offshore gaming illegal. What they did was make it illegal for a bank or processor to fund gambling operations.

Go read the bill when it passes, or go read HR4411 as it stands today.

The fight ain't over, just took a hard shot to the groin. If it passes, we will get to the next step. That is all there is to it. They are not going to shut off the betting tonight. One low blow does not end it all.

Heres a link to the bill. Nobody knows what will be the wording on the current bill they are trying to sneak through - but this is what they are working with.

Nothing about criminalizing anything for individuals.

Van, if you don't mind sparing me from reading the legal mumbo jumbo, does it mention third party vendors (i.e. neteller, firepay, etc.)?

By name? No. By purpose? Yes.

But its 20 pages of double spaced type. You should read it. It will take you all of 5 minutes.

What difference does it make what it says? What does the 1961 Wire Act say about Internet Gaming? It is more important, what they choose to selectively enforce. They could prosecute bankers if the bankers can't catch anyone, or they miss some. How are they going to prosecute these overseas companies that do not play along? And the books? They will keep on truckin, anyway they can. It is an ugly developement for certain, but there is a lot of speculation right now. Who knows what they attached, or why?

Best wishes...OF :howdy:
