Guys,

Please remember this...

If this whole thing passes, and lets say a year from now it is completely illegal to wager online....
Lets say out of everyone that still decides to do so (which will be most)...by some LONG SHOT ODDS you get caught...

Unless your name is Charles Manson, or Richard Ramirez, etc...Do you really think you're going to get in any kind of trouble?..Perhaps the first 5 people or so they will pursue diligently to "prove a point"....but even then if it is your first time in trouble...you'll get off with a slap on the wrist...I dont know exactly how it will be written about seizing assets and such...but legally you're not going to be thrown in jail on the spot

Keep it in perspective....After the first few get caught, I don't see crimefighters going after keyboard typists wagering THEIR OWN MONEY on the internet....

Speeding is illegal, and we do it every day....

Well said. Don't believe the hype

NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE They are not going to kick in your door and they are not going to come after you!!!!

Use some common sense people. We'd be in line behind the illegal aliens when it comes to enforcement....lol.

Seriously, don't sweat this.

What are you in here for:

Prisoner 1 - Murder

Prisoner 2 - Rape

Prisoner 3 - Grand Theft

Prisoner 4 - I bet the Rutgers game?

WTF? Yeah right.......... Maybe a slap on the wrist with a fine or something.

I can only imagine the hell they would have to go through to get it proven, etc. in court..
Do they think these internet gambling companies are going to comply all the time with them?..Especially if they don't allow funds via a bank or such?...If someone is finding a way around making the deposit noticably, how are they going to prove you wagered?

Is the US government going to start placing spyware on American computers?...
How would they prove it was YOU that placed the actual wager?...Are they going to require a webcam be installed on every PC in the U.S.?

Are they going to require not only BASIC internet traffic reports from the Internet Service Providers, but detailed information for every American in the U.S. which shows internet usage connecting to certain sites?

How would they prove that you actually placed a wager???Maybe I connected to the site to view the spreads for fake home betting with the wife (wink wink)

The books better start putting up notices that they will not give out your personal data to any source whatsoever...Are the under any obligation to give it to the Los Angeles Police Department if they call Costa Rica and ask for John Does gambling account info?

Think about how they are going to actually get the EVIDENCE to charge someone.....Please tell me how

They can get all the proof they want - it is not hard to tap internet communications.

That being said, they still have to get a jury of 12 - 3 of which will be online gamblers and 9 of which believe gambling should be legal to convict you.

Then once they do that they have to house you in prison.

Housing you in prison costs about $700/day.

While you are in prison you will no longer be paying taxes...

See the problem?

If the criminal law passes, they'll use this law to get people for other things. If they know you are molesting kids, but they can't prove it and they have proof you gamble, they'll lock you up for 5 years. If you are wanted for tax evasion, but they can't prove it.... If you are pimping, but they can't prove it...

I mean seriously, your best defense in court is: I came home from the office and I laid down $100 of my post tax money on the buckeyes.... (Name home team here)

I don't wager, but if any F.B.I., D.E.A., or C.I.A. is reading this,

please ask Kodiak for my email address and let me know how you plan on gathering evidence for someone who gambles...

Main point of my statement..."EASE" of use...They can easily see internet data....but getting the specifics out of that, is NOT simple....Plus if they are going to take it to court..I'm pretty sure they are going to want the hard data from the OFFSHORE Book with your detailed reports....

Is the book going to give them the persons info?
Especially if they are no longer accepting funds from U.S. Bank Cards or E.F.Ts??????

The genie is out of the bottle!

no one can stop internet gambling. The banks have already stated that they do not have the money or the time to enforce any law enacted.

Only the the DOJ will pursue. One day down a very long road I might be worried if I was a high profile person who had enemies who knew I bet. People need we go any further than Mrs. Gretzky, she MADE bets with a "local" they went after the person taking bets and not the person placing them.

It's no wonder the present powers that be are in place, there seems to be no shortage of the easliy swayed, led, scared out there.

Some of us need to grab our you know whats and worry about the Rutgers second half play or the early games on Saturday!
