probably it was a simple catalyst to the whole situation

on the other hand, I watch CNN a lot and they have not made a single mention of this gambling bill when talking about the port bill, its not 'big' news at all to most of the public which is the reason why they get away with it

It was due to happen at sometime, Jay Cohen case took place way before the 'poker explosion' but with the always increasing number of people betting on the internet eventually SOMEONE had to spoil it to for everyone

I agree. Worst thing to happen to sports bettors.

Outfits like Blowdog taking out ads in USA Today doesn't help either.

Not necesarily, mainstreaming sportsbetting is probably what will save it in the future. If we show the amount of people who place wagers on the internet far exceeds the extreme religous right who think its against their morals then the politician will notice. They banned alcohol and it came right back a year later.

This new law will strangle online poker by cutting off electronic funding. Poker players much more so than sportsbettors are impulsive when it comes to scratching the itch to gamble.

I would give my left nut to be owning a legal poker hall right now---they are gonna see business double or triple.
