After recovering an onside kick attempt by Edison, following a delay on the opening kickoff and before a delay penalty by the Lions, Durant finally set up shop at midfield. On the first play from scrimmage the Lions decided to pass against man coverage and a stuffed box. When White found no one open downfield, he called his own number and raced 50 yards for the opening touchdown.
