In another thread that was moved as I replied to it, a very valid point was raised:

MasterPlan said:
Given the current climate, I feel all books should be able to post their position on recent legislation in gambling forums. There are probably quite a few players that read this forum and use that sportsbook. I think staying silent is the scariest position a book could take at this point, given that most of the publicly traded companies have indicated their intent to pull out of the US market.
I have to agree. Apart from comments about WSEX and Pinnacle, the advertisers here have been mighty silent about the situation.

We know where Sportingbet, and the big poker/casinos Partygaming and 888.com stand, but what about the rest of the industry?

I hope we hear more from them this week.

I spoke with Intertops this morning and they gave pretty much the same reply as WSEX....business as usual and they are licensed under the gaming laws of Antigua and Barbados, not the US.

What do you want to hear? The privately held books have always said they operate in their jurisdiction and they have a world court ruling behind them.
They have never recognized US law. Why would they now?

Exactly Sean. Nobody has ever stopped anybody from doing anything, that didn't want to be stopped first.

it is fine to hear it, but to make your own thread announcing it is taking advantage of the situation if you are a book. Spam everyone on your email list announcing your plans to keep American clients, but don't spam the message boards.

I doubt if you will see offshore books take a public stance on the current issues.......

by nature books want to stay under the radar.......

even though offshore books are operating under the jurisdiction of other countries......

the realize the U.S. can still make life uncomfortable.........(feds raiding CRIS comes to mind)

plus given the right amount of pressure from the U.S. some of those countries that welcome books, might be forced to change policies ...ie higher taxes, fees to operate
