He hurt his calf running in the outfield today and whether he'll start tomorrow or not will be a game time decision. John Maine gets the start if he doesn't go.

El Duque has been VERY solid for the Mets and is one of the best big game /post season pitchers around. More than that, if he's out, they have lost 2 of their top 3 starters which will tax the bullpen even more. Might not matter game 1, but what about game 3?

i tend to think starting a rookie...who was last LIT up by the dodgers, would be a problem. the kid has no experience in the playoffs. how can that bode well?

Code:
Situation	#G	QS	W-L	Team REC	ERA	WHIP	BB/SO	HR/IP
Last 7 Starts	7 4 3-3 3-4 (42.9%) 3.92 1.307 0.40 0.097
i wouldnt call that "very solid" but he does have playoff experience

they are also saying steve traschel might start

Take Mets action no matter. Big Bats do the job in game 1.

dodgers have big bats too, came into the playoffs on a high note unlike mets

Don't think to much on this...if he is hurt and goes than that's the dodgers advantage. If he doesn't go, then that will affect the mind set of the mets.

Firm beliver that you take the streaking team in the playoff. Lowe, has been consistent during the strech and helped the dodgers maintain their advantage over the wildcard when they were struggling. Now the dodgers have gotten some life in their bats again and I feel the dodgers will take this series. I have money on the sweep, small action with this newd will affect the their bullpen and starting rotation.

Mets had the best record and nothing to play for since the AL won the All Star game. I think they take care of business.

Yanni,

You know that 7 starts ago was an 11 run aberration. After that, he gave up the following ER's: 0,1,1,2,3,0. C'mon man.

Also his post season record is 9-3 with a 2.55 ERA.

The bigger issue for the Mets is depth since Pedro is out as well. Yeah Maine, might do fine today, but who is their #4 starter? Oliver Perez? Dave Williams? Or will it be Lima time?

HUGE blow to the Mets, case closed.

I actually think they win this series and maybe the NLCS (nobody else has great SP depth), but it virtually eliminates them as a WS contender assuming the Yankees win.

I've read where Oliver Perez is penciled in as #3 #4 starter. Which in itself is shaky because if Maine does poorly - he probably won't start Game 4 or 5.
