Will most of the smaller sports forums fold now? I am sure the RX will survive, but I can't see many of the smaller sports forums like MVP, TFZ, GamblersUnderground, etc.. surviving without ad revenue.

can't be very good news for moderators. Some sites seem to have excessive numbers of mods considering none generate post volume like RX. How do you pay these guys, if revenue is slashed ?

If you own a small forum and your not able to move you hosting to a offshore server and you are totally dependent on affiliate money then your screwed. I know at The Offshore Edge that we'll be moving all of our business entities offshore. Posting from the US is not a crime and we'll continue to move forward. I did notice that The Online Wire moved all facilities, including the owner to the UK.

Wouldn't it be the other way around? The big forums are the ones with the HUGE overhead, compared to the smaller forums.

There are many more gambling forums than most of you realize. Some of them are private, but big nonetheless. Winnersonline and Casinomeister will survive, but all of them will lose ad revenue. There are literally hundreds of forums though

Many of the smaller ones are 'hobby's' for the owners and really don't create much revenue IMO.<!-- / message -->

Bettingtalk will survive. We win and support the site ourselves.

If this legislation does indeed have teeth and becomes a reality, it will hurt all forum that don't invest their own funds into business, unless they change the 'focus" of their business towards being a more-mainstream sports forum

Many of the smaller places, like WhaleWager, support themselves and don't run solely on revenue from gambling portals. Whale has other ventures that generate much more revenue

The bigger places with better traffic and more posters will survive, but may have to cut costs and persue advertising from other sources.

But enough with the what if's, nothing is set in stone yet and we really don't know if this bill will do much what we fear it "could" do, end Offshore Gambling.

From what I've read, this bill that was just passed has some bark to it, but not a whole lot of bite.

Guess we'll find out in the next 9 months and that may or may not affect our plans for next football season

My guess is that some of the major forums will fall. Even some of the posters in here will get into trouble. It should not be a big deal to hack sites such as the rx. With the database you get the ip adr of every single poster. All they have to do then is check the ip with your isp and then they have your name and adr. After that all they have to do is checking your internet traffic and you are caught? Impossible scenario? Not in the USA !!!

Just put your servers and official ownership of the company in a foreign country. There is no way in hell the US is going to go after a forum with no American ownership just because Americans decide to look and participate there.
