There was a time in British Bookmaking where it was almost impossible for sharp individual to get any sort of Arthur on any Event after a short period of winning, even as a bookmaker you had to be careful what bets you hedged for fear of getting accounts closed, personally I used Two accounts specifically for business hedgeing. The only way a Pro or Sharp could get on for decent amounts was the use of Commission Agents, which generally charged 1% on losing bets and 2% on winners. The established Agents could mask the live Money with bets from lazy gamblers who couldnt be bothered to even get off their Arse and open an account, others didnt want anyone knowing their Gambling habits, Politicians, High Profile Jobs and My Clients, The Royal Family.:missingte
However, with the birth of Exchanges, everybody suddenly could put their own bets on at discounted prices anominously and The Commission Agents had to go back to selling Houses and Cars. Now we have a reverse situation in the States whereby Punters, sharp and recreational but big, may be in the future unable to bet through the normal channels and eventually will have to bet with The said commission agents. Whether this is viable considering were mainly talking about Two Horse Sports betting is something the bettor will have to decide but I would think its still more profitable than the bog standard Local book, who if screws his loaf, could get a nice business going if he wasnt too greedy.
Anyways, I'm just pointing out that in the worst case scenario there's still options. :drink:
